After months of escalating tensions with ally PAS, Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin today hinted at the party's possible exit from Perikatan Nasional.
In a statement wishing PN "all the best," Muhyiddin (above) hit out at coalition chairperson Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar for making a unilateral decision to enter an electoral pact with BN and sidelining Bersatu from seat negotiations.
"Just because PN under PAS leadership seeks to form an alliance with Umno - a party that still has ties with Pakatan Harapan, including DAP - PAS has severed ties with Bersatu, sidelining the Malay party that I lead.
"This is not genuine Malay unity. It is merely a realignment of political power. Nevertheless, I wish PN all the best.
"Bersatu will not look back. The party will continue to stand firm and move forward, carrying the banner of its struggle for the sake of Malaysia and all its people," Muhyiddin said.
The statement came just hours after PN component parties sans Bersatu held a ceremony to unveil their 11 candidates for the Negeri Sembilan polls, which complement BN's contest for 25 other seats.

Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar
During the event last night, Samsuri also announced the coalition is entering the election with BN as its partner.
Bersatu is scheduled to announce its candidate line-up in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan, later today.
However, it has yet to be ascertained if Muhyiddin has decided for Bersatu to leave the coalition for good. As of his press conference on Wednesday, the former prime minister said they have not made any decision and would look into the matter after the state election.
Denial of rights
In his statement, Muhyiddin also expressed his disappointment with PN leadership for denying Bersatu's rights as a coalition member.

He chided PN information chief Annuar Musa for accusing Bersatu of parting ways with the coalition.
"Seat negotiations with Bersatu for the election were discontinued. In fact, they were deliberately halted on unreasonable grounds.
"Bersatu was also not invited to attend the PN's supreme council special meeting, where the allocation of seats among the coalition's component parties was finalised.
"So why is Bersatu being accused of acting ahead of the meeting's decision when it was not even invited to the meeting in the first place?" he asked.
