Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s orders for his troops to seize at least 70 percent control of Gaza is “just the beginning”, says Khaled Elgindy, senior fellow at the Quincy Institute think tank.

“Every indication is that this is part of [Netanyahu’s] plan to seize control of all of Gaza and to empty of its population,” Elgindy told Al Jazeera.

While the Board of Peace is “supposed to be the guardian and enforcer” of the US-brokered ceasefire and peace agreement in place between Israel and Hamas in Gaza, it “is a fiction”, he adds.
