For A Better World: It is not only utterly saddening but despicable for some Malaysians to conclude and analyse instantaneously every offensive act or questionable actions by other fellow Malaysians through a racial lens.
After 68 years of Merdeka, we still stoop to such low levels. And there are well-entrenched politicians like Perak PAS Youth chief Hafez Sabri, who are the top players and agitators in these virulent, hate-creating episodes.
As a consequence, most Malaysians have been indoctrinated to reason and act accordingly.
It could be a long way, maybe in another 100 years, before we have a more racially harmonious Malaysian society.
It all has to start with Malaysian politicians and their leaders, who at the moment rise to power and leadership of the nation by using the 2R (race and religion) issues.
IndigoGoat3056: Why view everything through the lens of race? Hafez, as a people’s representative, should have been more careful and ensured the facts were correct before issuing any comment.
Under the Laws of the State of Perak, Interpretation IV defines “rakyat” as a person who is a citizen of Malaysia under Part III of the Federal Constitution. As an elected representative, you should understand the Constitution.
The woman who attempted to rush towards the Perak sultan is simply a woman and a citizen of this state. Why then did you post something racial on Facebook? A person who upholds the Constitution should not make such an unbecoming statement.
Robbie98: This is an unfortunate incident involving a troubled lady with mental health problems, which has been blown out of proportion by immature social media users and some self-serving politicians. Shame on them.
We live in a stressful world, and a casual review will show that approximately 30 percent of the population, Malaysia included, has psychiatric illnesses of varying forms and grades.
They are ill, sick, like having diabetes, hypertension, among others. They need help and care, sympathy and understanding, not disdain and abuse.
To charge this poor lady with a criminal offence is an overkill and an abuse of the process. Please, she needs help. If anyone deserves to be charged, it should be the unscrupulous politicians and social media abusers who made it a race and religious issue.
Apanama is Back: Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director M Kumar, I salute and commend you for being direct and straight to the face of the bigots out there.
Your refutation of the claim that a Chinese person had been arrested while confirming that it was a 41-year-old Malay woman who was nabbed is an excellent example of how to tackle and defuse such situations.
Never use the words “Malaysian” or “local Malaysian” since the bigots only understand Chinese and Indian.
There is nothing wrong with your statement since you have just given a tight slap on the face of the bigots.
Well done, Kumar!
Mazhilamani: You don’t have to be drunk or be on a substance to be intoxicated; a good dose of long-term negative indoctrination will leave one permanently addicted.
It is small minds that add to racial hatred. Imagine His Royal Highness had been hurt, and this news quickly reached the targeted group. Can we imagine the outbreak of violence, and that too on the country’s Independence Day?
Hafez must be held responsible for falsely identifying the lady and given the harshest punishment.
Surely, this mentally ill lady will be detained. Similarly, the PAS Youth leader requires a much longer sentence commensurate with his ill intention.
Doc: The politicians seem to be missing the big picture as usual. Everything to them boils down to race and religion, and anything beyond that, their brains cannot compute.
The fact of the matter is, mental health diseases are exploding in Malaysia. This lady, who tried to grab the sultan, is clearly mentally unwell.
As mental health issues like depression among the young and other diseases like bipolar, addiction, schizophrenia, dementia, and others are on the rise in the population, the Madani government has decided to play dumb and does not want to address this mental health epidemic.
What is even worse is that Health Minister Dzulkefly Ahmad appears to be anti-healthcare workers. He has identified these workers as the sole cause for escalating healthcare costs and has decided to cut doctors’ salaries and income in the hope of cutting healthcare costs.
This insane outlook has led to a mass exodus of doctors from public hospitals and clinics. In short, the Health Ministry cannot manage this mental health epidemic with such a loss of its healthcare staff.
