Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin is healthy and actively preparing for the party’s upcoming annual general assembly scheduled to take place this weekend, said its secretary-general Azmin Ali.
Responding to recent concerns over Muhyiddin’s health, Azmin said he has been in close communication with the Pagoh MP ahead of the expected gathering of 2,555 delegates from 202 divisions.
“The president’s health is good. He is energetic.
“As the secretary-general, I meet with him almost every day, particularly in preparing for Bersatu’s AGM.
“He is very active and working on what I believe is a comprehensive keynote speech,” said Azmin (above, right) during a press conference at the party’s headquarters in Petaling Jaya.
“I’ve only provided some input. So, there are no issues concerning his health.
“I believe he is ready to continue leading the party more actively,” he added.

Azmin earlier announced that Bersatu’s eighth AGM will be held at the Ideal Convention Centre Shah Alam on Sept 6 and 7, with Muhyiddin scheduled to deliver his keynote address.
Last week, former Sungai Besar Bersatu chief Hasnizam Adham on Facebook hinted at Muhyiddin’s health condition and that the Perikatan Nasional chairperson was in hospital for treatment.
Bersatu expects GE16 next year
Elaborating on Muhyiddin’s upcoming speech, Azmin said the AGM will serve as a platform to evaluate Bersatu’s performance, with an expectation that the 16th general election will be called next year, together with several state polls.
Quizzed on the basis for Bersatu’s expectation, Azmin claimed there have been multiple factors indicating that Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s administration needs a fresh mandate due to what he described as its failures.

“First, the failure to manage economic issues, including the rising cost of living burdening the people. The same goes for issues dominating public discourse today, such as the Urban Renewal Act and bullying cases.
“This situation is pressing, and the Madani government must seek a new mandate to ensure stability and prosperity for the country in the future,” he said.
“The roadmap for GE16 will be outlined in the president’s policy speech.
“The president’s address will also emphasise pressing issues, including the cost of living that continues to burden the people and traders; the economy, including trade and investment; the impact of US import tariffs; youth employment opportunities; the Urban Renewal Act; Islam and national harmony; geopolitics; and the latest developments in cooperation among parties outside the government bloc,” he said.
According to Azmin, Bersatu has sent out 94 invitations to embassies, PN component leaders, friendly parties, and NGOs, with a confirmed attendance by Bersatu founder Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
