Kit Siang comes to Teresa’s
defence over probe into
former aides
The DAP stalwart says he believes that Teresa Kok, the party’s vice-president, did not report her former aides to MACC.

In a statement, Lim said it would be unfortunate if the investigation by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) diminished Kok’s chances at the party polls on March 16.
Kok told Malaysiakini yesterday that MACC’s probe into two of her former officers could affect her chances at the polls as many were unhappy with their arrest for allegedly soliciting and accepting a RM500,000 bribe.
Kok said that DAP delegates who knew one of her former officers, who had been with her for a decade, could vote her out.
“Many could not accept it when I decided to dismiss and terminate his service last year after I discovered misconduct without my knowledge.
“There was misappropriation of my parliamentary allocation, and since then, several Seputeh DAP members have been unhappy with me,” she was quoted as saying.
Last week, Kok said she had been unfairly blamed by some party members and the families of her former staff for MACC’s decision to question her two former officers.
Responding to accusations on social media of her alleged involvement, the Seputeh MP said neither she nor her staff had lodged a report with the anti-graft agency.
Lim said he had spoken to Kok about the matter, and that she had told him the whole story.
“I believe Kok did not report the matter to the anti-corruption agency and was not responsible for the arrest of her two former officers,” he said.
He also said he believed that Kok stood for “integrity, accountability, responsibility, good governance, and democracy”.
