Din Salleh, 60, pleaded guilty to the two charges when read to him before judge Sayani Nor.
The judge ordered that the prison sentence run effective from the date of his arrest on Jan 17, Berita Harian reported.
Sayani also ordered Din to undergo rehabilitative counselling and be subject to police supervision for one year after he completes his prison sentence.
In the first charge, Din was accused of raping the 13-year-old girl in the kitchen of a rented house in Kluang, between 12am and 1am on Jan 11.
In the second charge, he was accused of sexually assaulting the same victim at the same time and place.
The charges were framed under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code and Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, each of which carries a sentence of imprisonment of up to 20 years and whipping.
Based on the facts of the case, the accused had assaulted the girl while her parents were asleep.
The girl’s parents later found her in disarray and saw the man fleeing the scene. Her mother brought her to hospital for an examination and a police report was lodged after that.
The prosecution was handled by deputy public prosecutor Othman Affan while the accused was unrepresented.
