Kelantan police said it will ensure the election process in Nenggiri runs smoothly without any hindrance this Saturday.

GUA MUSANG
Certain parties have been trying to influence voters in Nenggiri not to vote in the state by-election this Saturday, say police.

Kelantan police chief Zaki Harun said they take this matter seriously and will take stern action against those who make extreme, provocative statements that could disrupt the democratic system and public order.

He said such actions could be investigated under Section 4A(1) of the Election Offences Act 1954, for promoting feelings of ill will or hostility.

Police will ensure the election process runs smoothly without any hindrance and that voters are able to vote safely and freely without being influenced by anybody seeking to keep them from fulfilling their responsibility as voters,
 he said in a statement.

The by-election will see a straight fight between Barisan Nasional’s Azmawi Fikri Abdul Ghani and Perikatan Nasional’s candidate Rizwadi Ismail.
