Mahathir thinks he is above the law

Mahathir thinks he is above the law

YOURSAY | ‘After 66 years of independence, he is still harping on 3R issues.’

Probed 9 times but Dr M says it won't stop him speaking on 3R

Malaysian kot: Dr Mahathir Mohamad, you are a disgrace to the country.

I went to a government school and assimilated with every race. Those were the good times.

As a former prime minister of the country, you should be ashamed to be using “pendatang” (immigrants) so openly.

Clearly, you should be charged in court. One wonders if that will happen.

Every “pendatang” had to fight for their rights since school. Scholarships, loans, and even government positions were not easily given to us.

Every “pendatang” kept at it and just knew they had to work harder to get any of the benefits that Malays of this country enjoy.

For example, any “pendatang” who got offered a government position knew they would never be in a high position.

Yet, you ask why there are no “pendatangs” in the government.

“Pendatangs” left it all for the Malays. Why bother? Better to work at it and live and let live. No riots, no protests - nothing.

“Pendatangs” had accepted their fate in this country and continue to live peacefully amongst Malaysians.

Yet, today - you blame the “pendatangs” when the “pendatangs” never had an even level playing field, to begin with!

Your race as you call it - had everything - from scholarships to loans, to multiple Amanah Saham Nasional Berhad (ASNB) accounts, positions, and so on.

Your race as you call it - even ran the country!Where in your warped mind has a “pendatang” ever taken the rights of your race as you call it?

Gerard Lourdesamy: This saga is getting boring. The attorney-general should charge him for sedition. Period!

By the time all this is over Mahathir would be long gone. By the time the 16th general election is held in 2027, Mahathir will be forgotten. He thinks he is above the law.

He repeated his sedition last night in Bakri, Johor.

He referred to all non-Malays in the country as “pendatangs” who do not deserve to have and lead “pendatang” political parties.

He also alleged that the “pendatang” do not want to assimilate and that the “pendatang” do not like the Malays although the Malays have accepted them.

He repeated that this land belonged to the Malays and that he would not keep quiet and allow others to give away this land to the “pendatang”.

If this is not sedition, I do not know what else is. Mahathir is a national and global disgrace.

CitizenSaro: Mahathir's words and statements will go down in history as proof that he was a failed prime minister.

Having held important positions in the ruling political coalition for more than 40 years and as prime minister for over 20 years, he is loudly proclaiming that he failed the Malay race.

Now without political power but with a loud mouth, is what he is doing now morally and religiously the right thing for the Malays?

The Malays should look just down South at Singapore and ask themselves this question.

DonGetMeWrong: What is Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim waiting for? Mahathir has abused the law.

Belittling the Agong and sultans and giving hate speeches, twisting facts about Malaysia’s independence and history.

During Anwar's time as deputy prime minister and finance minister, Mahathir had no qualms about having him arrested on corruption and abuse of power charges.

Mahathir was not even worried or blinked an eyelid when Anwar’s supporters went on the streets or the prospect of losing in the general election in 1999.

The Mahathir-led coalition still won because of Chinese support, something he has personally acknowledged. Anwar must be tough if he is to survive.

Salvage Malaysia: I don’t think this government is stopping anyone from speaking about issues relating to 3Rs (race, religion, and royalty).

Unless of course, you use it to incite hatred and discrimination such as blaming the non-Malays for supposedly eroding the rights of Malays. That’s wrong.

You can highlight the plight of the Malays but don’t blame other races for it.

Mazhilamani: Now Mahathir is keeping count of the number of times he has called to record his statements on 3R by the police and daringly claims he does not see the end of it.

What does all this mean? He has no respect for the police. I don't blame Mahathir but the police for their shortcomings.

He promises to keep talking about the 3Rs. He is a motivation for other belĺigerents.

The police must teach him a lesson.

Malaysia Maju: After 66 years of independence, he is still harping on 3R issues. He is just creating a false picture of the nation.

How can a predominantly Malay-Muslim nation be subdued by the non-Muslims?

The non-Muslim MPs are here to contribute towards the building of this nation and are not there for show. All must put in the effort, only then the nation can move forward.

It is said no one is above the law. Those who violate the law should be charged. If found guilty, he may be sentenced but could be pardoned due to his age.

If he didn’t violate the laws, the police should say so. Why keep calling him in for questioning?

Anonymous Observer: I recall in 1993 the then Australian Prime Minister Paul Keating labelled Mahathir as a recalcitrant.

What more do we have to say about this politician who helmed the Malaysian government twice?
