K'tan delegate: Umno lost because GE15 held when there were 'no eggs'
Umno did poorly in the 15th general election because it was held at a time when "there were no eggs", said Kelantan party representative Zawawi Othman.
While discussing the party president's policy speech, Zawawi said GE15 should have been held earlier around April or together with the Johor state polls.
"We made a mistake because we should have held an election earlier, (on the contrary) we held an election when the price of chicken had gone up... the price of goods had gone up.
"We held the general election when there were 'no eggs' and that's why we lost," he said half-jokingly.
The Pasir Puteh Umno leader said if the general election had been held earlier, Umno would not have experienced the same fate it did in the polls, where the once-dominant party only won less than 30 parliamentary seats.
He went on to claim that Umno and BN could have even become the dominant party in the government if the GE15 timing was different.
Separately, Zawawi provocatively described PAS and Bersatu as “rapists” for the way they criticised Umno when the party cooperated with DAP, whereas the two had first established cooperation with DAP in Pakatan Rakyat and Pakatan Harapan respectively.
"Today they don't say DAP is good, but as bad as DAP is, PAS had already kissed it long ago," he said.
