KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 27 — Former Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin is ready to face any disciplinary action from the party, even as he faces the possibility of being sacked for crossing its top leadership.

He has vowed to stay with Umno, The Star reported today ahead of the Malay nationalist party’s supreme council meeting this evening.

"Of course, I’m prepared for anything. This is politics after all – you don’t go into politics not being prepared for any eventuality," Khairy was quoted as saying.

He added that he had yet to receive any formal news from the party of possible disciplinary action against him and only knew about the speculation based on what had been reported in the news.

Khairy was also reported to have declined PAS’ invitation to join it if he loses his Umno membership, saying he will remain "loyal as a regular Umno member".

The former Rembau MP is under the spotlight after alleging in a TikTok video that "imported delegates" were involved in the party's annual general assembly earlier this time that aimed to rig the votes for the upcoming Umno internal election.

The matter was later denied by other Umno top leaders, and threats of disciplinary action came.

"I posted a video, and we know that there were people being ushered into the hall to whip up and shout their support for the motion.

"I can defend myself if there is due process," Khairy was quoted as saying.

He reiterated that Umno’s no-contest policy for its top two positions was not only “politically irresponsible” but also invalid and unconstitutional.

The Star also reported Johor deputy chairman Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed claiming that Khairy is "hoping to be sacked".

"When the majority has decided overwhelmingly, you don’t insult them, because when the membership leaves you, you are finished.

"Just resign from the party. Don’t try so hard to be sacked. I think he is aiming to be sacked so that some other parties will take him in," Nur Jazlan was quoted as saying.

  1. Dangerous precedent for UMNO if Khairy makes such serious allegations, fails to substantiate it, and walks away unpunished.
