Rais Yatim questions Dr M’s demand for Muhyiddin to cut out Umno before the two meet

KUALA LUMPUR, March 9 — Bersatu leader Tan Sri Rais Yatim has asked why Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was setting conditions before he meets Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin when the prime minister has not done similarly.

The former minister pointed out that Muhyiddin did not ask Dr Mahathir to cut ties with DAP in order for the two to meet.

Muhyiddin appeared to extend an olive branch to his immediate predecessor who previously accused him of betrayal in Malaysia’s political crisis last month.

“Why assert the precondition that TS Muhyiddin must first shirk off Umno from Perikatan Nasional b4 the 4-eyed meeting? Muhyiddin doesn't press for DAP to be out of the PH b4 any talk?

“TSM you have done your part. Get out of the shadow. Do what u have to do,’’ he said on Twitter this morning.

Earlier, Bersatu supreme council member Wan Saiful Wan Jan expressed hope that Dr Mahathir would meet with Muhyiddin, after calls from the party grassroots for both leaders to reconcile.

Besides Dr Mahathir, Wan Saiful also pleaded with Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir, the son of Dr Mahathir who is still Bersatu president, to end the standoff between the party’s top two leaders.

He asserted that all three leaders formed the backbone of the party.

Yesterday, Dr Mahathir said he would only meet with Muhyiddin if the latter dropped Umno from the new government.

Dr Mahathir has repeatedly said he would not work with Umno as he said the party was tainted by corruption.

Firstly, let me get this trivial issue out of the way before I comment on Rais Yatim's comments, to wit, regarding Wan Saiful's remarks, that all three leaders (Mahathir, Muhyiddin, Mukriz - I know because I read it in another newspaper, wakakaka) formed the backbone of the party PRIBUMI.

That's sheer ampu-bullshit with regards to Mukhriz being part of Parti PRIBUMI's backbone - mind, no fault of Mukhriz that Wan Saiful saw fit to tembak to bodek-mollify Mahathir.

Boi-Boi is a 'nice guy' with his mother's temperament and gentle character, and none of his dad's wicked evilness and Machiavellian bent - that's why Boi-Boi won't make a powerful, assertive nor effective political leader.

Without his dad's protective 'umbrella', he'll be eaten up by KJ, Azmin and their likes. Mark my words, when Mahathir leaves us for another place (sooner or later, as he will), Mukhriz will fade away into political obscurity. Boi-Boi is just NOT cut out to be a Machiavellian politician.

OK, now on to Rais Yatim's comments. Rais has been correct in admonishing Mahathir for his arrogant impolite brushoff of Muhyiddin's overture - nonetheless, it's NOT Malay culture for Mahathir to be so rude, dismissive and imposing ridiculous conditions which would have seen Muhyiddin immediately losing UMNO's numbers, whence the ball will then swing to Mahathir's humongous favour - Muhyiddin isn't that stupid.

Arguing on technical grounds, Rais has been correct that if Mahathir could work with DAP, why couldn't he allow Muhyiddin to work with UMNO - after all, hasn't he been excoriating DAP for decades?

when he has a use for Lucifer he would have been cordial to him - pandai tok-kok only 

And if UMNO (Baru) is tainted with corruption, guess who has been its Bapak? Wakakaka.
