Bersatu supreme council member urges probe into Hamzah

A BERSATU supreme council member has called for the party’s disciplinary board to investigate deputy president Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin over allegations of backing actions against president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

Kuala Langat division chief Datuk Harrison Hassan warned that such conduct undermines party discipline and loyalty, accusing Hamzah of being linked to internal manoeuvres challenging leadership.

The call follows recent disputes within Bersatu, with some leaders urging Muhyiddin’s resignation and supporting Hamzah as a temporary replacement.

“The actions and conduct of certain Bersatu leaders of late, which display elements of criticism and open insults against the party’s leadership, constitute a rude, irresponsible act that clearly challenges party discipline.

“Such actions are entirely unacceptable in a political party founded on discipline and loyalty.

“More worrying are the increasingly strong allegations that Hamzah (above) has not merely remained silent but is claimed to be the mastermind behind such actions,” Harrison alleged.

Meanwhile, Bersatu secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said any dismissal, including of Hamzah, must follow the party constitution.

He explained that written complaints of misconduct are referred to the disciplinary board, which can issue warnings, acquittals, suspensions, or expulsions.

Azmin declined to discuss petitions, stressing due process applies equally. — Feb 7, 2026
