Kuala Lumpur police chief Fadil Marsus has vowed to push through the eviction at Kampung Sungai Baru today, declaring he “will fight to the end” should there be any intentional provocation, to ensure the operation is completed.
Fadil (above) warned that firm action would be taken against anyone attempting to provoke unrest.
The operation saw heightened tension after Dang Wangi district police chief Suzilme Affendy Sulaiman was injured during a clash with residents.
Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) personnel were also deployed to secure the site.
“This eviction must be carried out today, by any means necessary. If anyone deliberately tries to cause chaos, I will fight to the very end.
“I will not allow such things to happen,” Fadil told the media during the operation, after Suzilme’s injury.

Fadil stressed that he was both disappointed and angered by the act of throwing objects at his officers while they were on duty, saying it was clearly against the law.
He said the police were merely carrying out their duties in accordance with legal provisions.
“The act of injuring my officer by throwing objects is something that greatly angers me. This situation should never have happened, as we are only enforcing the law,” he added.
Earlier, Suzilme sustained injuries during the eviction of residents in Kampung Sungai Baru, Kuala Lumpur, who had refused to move out.
The incident reportedly occurred when commotion broke out after several residents attempted to force their way into the operation zone. Their actions, along with several members of the public, were blocked by the FRU officers.

The confrontation escalated when certain individuals hurled hard objects at the police, with one believed to have struck Suzilme on the head.
‘Outsiders’ involved?
Meanwhile, Fadil confirmed that Suzilme is receiving treatment at Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL), adding that one resident involved in the fracas also sustained minor injuries.
He also did not rule out the involvement of outsiders who had entered the operation site and attempted to incite unrest.
Bernama reported Fadil saying that the police had detected a group of individuals who were not residents of Kampung Sungai Baru, but were believed to be deliberately provoking unrest.

At a separate event, Inspector-General of Police Khalid Ismail said that three people have since been detained after the incident.
