Annuar links Kit Siang to May 13 riot

Annuar links Kit Siang to May 13 riot

Despite repeated denials from DAP, Annuar Musa has linked the party to the ethnic riots of May 13, 1969.

The former Umno minister - who is now a PAS member - said the bloodshed happened when DAP made its electoral debut that year.

“In the 1969 general election, he (DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang) campaigned under the banner of DAP, and then the bloodshed of May 13, 1969, occurred. DAP had a significant stake.

“If you open the book that compiles Lim’s speeches, it includes one when the killings took place in Kampung Baru. Lim was giving a speech in Kota Kinabalu, still fanning the flames for bumiputera and non-bumiputera issues,” he said.

Annuar (above) made the claims in front of some 1,000 people who gathered for a PAS ceramah in Bachok, Kelantan.

Malaysiakini is unable to independently verify Annuar’s claims.

The news portal has contacted Lim and DAP for comment regarding Annuar’s claims.

Previously, Lim sued former inspector-general of police Hanif Omar and Malay daily Sinar Harian on October 19, 2018, for linking him to the May 13 incident.

Hanif later apologised in open court to settle the defamation suit.

Sinar Harian published a written apology to Lim for publishing Hanif’s statements in two articles published in September 2018.

Lim’s recalling of May 13

Lim previously described himself as facing “malicious slander” following such political attacks.

In denying that he was in the streets of Kuala Lumpur on May 11, 12, and 13 inciting the riot, Lim said he was outside Kuala Lumpur during those dates.

“I contested in Bandar Melaka, was in the counting centre in Malacca until the early hours of May 11, 1969, for the results, returning to my family in Petaling Jaya later on May 11.

“On Monday, May 12, I returned to the Bandar Melaka constituency for a thank-the-voters procession in the evening and a thank-the-voters public rally on Monday night, both of which were peacefully conducted,” he said.

Lim said he was delivering a speech at a public rally in Kota Kinabalu on the night of May 13 when he first learnt about the rioting in Kuala Lumpur.

Zahid painted as ‘treacherous’

Meanwhile, Annuar criticised Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, accusing the latter of playing the role of ‘Si Kitol’ who opened the door for DAP to enter Parliament and Putrajaya.

In the ‘Malay Annals’, Si Kitol is one of the treacherous individuals in 16th century Malacca who left the Malacca sultanate vulnerable to a Portuguese invasion, leading to the collapse of the sultanate.

Annuar claimed that after the May 13 incident in 1969, the prime minister at the time Abdul Razak Hussein curbed DAP’s progress by establishing BN, with the participation of PAS.

“Since then, DAP couldn’t make progress. Every time there was an election, DAP couldn’t rise until a person named Zahid, who became Si Kitol, opened the door to bring DAP into Parliament and Putrajaya.

“This is what I think of Zahid,” he added.

  3. LKS should sue this a**e hole and donate any award to charity less lawyer's fees.

He will be on higher moral ground if he pledges to donate to charity any award.

PAS and PN are resorting to race and religion and do not care about truth.

Do not be so accomodating to accept just a public apology. Do not let him get away with a slap on the wrist.

    Go for the jugular!
