'She has never preached her religion to me' - Yeoh's secretary
Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh’s private secretary has come to her defence after she was hit with accusations of evangelism and misusing her ministry.
Nor Miswary Ramli, who has been working with Yeoh for the last decade, said the DAP lawmaker has always respected Islam and never once preached her Christian religion to him.
"Throughout my time with her, she has never once preached or had any tendency to influence me towards her religion.
"In just one week, Yeoh (above) has been a victim of malicious defamation twice for her work as the youth and sports minister.
“Most embarrassingly, the slanderers are those who claim to be Muslims and Malays from a party that supposedly fights for the nation and claims to be based on religion,” he wrote on Facebook last night.
Miswary was referring to PAS Kelantan Youth chief Mohamad Kamal Mohamed who accused Yeoh of using her power as a minister to deny the state its right to host the Malaysian Games (Sukma) 2024.

Miswary also said he had lodged a police report against the PAS member for his comments against Yeoh.
“I am defending Yeoh not because I want to fight against a slanderer from PAS, but because she deserves to be defended.
“I admit, I too am affected seeing her being defamed like this. Suffering from one defamation after another, continuously without end, no soul can bear it - not even this mother of two,” he added.
Christian evangelism claims
Yeoh was also recently hit with accusations of running a “Christian evangelist” programme.
Bersatu leader Badrul Hisham Shaharin, better known as Chegubard, made the allegation online over Impact Malaysia’s “Project Artikel 11” which included a “Jom Ziarah” programme.
The agency, which is under Yeoh’s ministry, has denied the claim.
It said Jom Ziarah so far has brought eight Chinese and Indian youths to the Federal Territory Mosque on March 4 and three Chinese youths to the Gurdwara Sahib in Shah Alam on March 11.
On March 14, Yeoh stressed in the Dewan Rakyat that no Muslim youths were involved in the programme and advised those in Perikatan Nasional to check what their coalition partners have said before making allegations.
Yeoh and one of her officers have lodged police reports against Badrul and Kamal.
Police yesterday confirmed that they’ve received a report and are investigating a Facebook post on the ‘Che'Gubard Original’ account which linked the Youth and Sports Ministry with a Christian evangelist movement.
