Zuraida, Redzuan named as Muafakat Nasional vice-presidents
Zuraida Kamaruddin is a former plantation industries and commodities minister while Redzuan Yusof served as special functions minister in the Perikatan Nasional administration.
KUALA LUMPUR: Former ministers Zuraida Kamaruddin and Redzuan Yusof have been appointed as the Muafakat Nasional NGO’s vice presidents.
Its president, Annuar Musa, said preacher Ridhuan Tee Abdullah and former deputy minister Edmund Santhara Kumar have also been appointed as vice-presidents.
Annuar announced the appointments after the NGO’s first meeting today.
Zuraida, who is the former plantation industries and commodities minister and Ampang MP, was recently sacked from Parti Bangsa Malaysia for failing to respond to a show cause letter issued to her.
Redzuan is a former special functions minister, Alor Gajah MP and currently a member of Bersatu’s Supreme Council.
Annuar said MN agreed to form six groups within the NGO to strengthen it.
The six groups will focus on issues pertaining to the economy, social and welfare, education, politics and leadership, youth and graduates, as well as social media and arts.
The NGO was founded by Annuar, a former Umno stalwart. Last month, an aide to Annuar sought to clarify that Muafakat Nasional was not a political party but was registered as an NGO with the Registrar of Societies.
