Hindus Under Siege!

Please help!

Even though 82% of India's 1.1 billion population are Hindus, according to the Hindu Unity website, they (the Hindus) are surrounded and, oh dear, oh dear, under siege from very bad Christians and evil Muslims.

Here are two of its typical postings, one on Hindus in danger of becoming a minority in India (over 820 million Hindus becoming a minority in India?), and another condemning some aid organizations for being anti Hindu - because they are ALL basically commies.

Somehow they missed the Buddhists, Jainists, Bahais, Zoroastrians, atheists, etc. Phew!

By the way, they forgot to mention the murder of Australian Christian Missionary Graham Staines who was burned alive together with his two sons, aged 8 and 10, by the poor frightened Hindus under siege. Staines was working with Indian lepers. Unfortunately, in the eyes of those threatened Hindus, that would have made him either a commie or a leper.

  1. `The decline in Hindu population and the consistent increase in the Muslim and Christian population, as revealed by the 2001 population census`

If I recall, the drop in the Hindu figure was mainly on account of the Jains listing themselves as such instead of Hindu which shot their %age from something like 12 to 28.

  2. I am not sure whether Jains can be mistakened for Hindus, as the two religions are quite different. Jainism would be more like Buddhism, except it's more 'extreme' - I say 'extreme' not in a bad sense but to demonstrate the very conscious extent to which Jains would go to avoid killing any creature, including microscopic ones - eg. their monks would sweep the path before their intended walk to ensure they don't accidentally step on and kill any ants or suchlike creature, while they would filter the water before they drinks, again to serve the same principle.

There are about 7 million Jains in India, which is just slightly over 0.5% of India's population. Myabe you have another religion in mind?

  3. You are right. I recall that from the Malay Mail and now i wonder what context that report was made in. Was going to post a retraction on it after seeing the results (on adobe)which can be accessed at
    http://www.censusindia.net/

Another e.g. of the Jains is they cover their noses and mouths to avoid breathing in those little organisms. In a way it`s kinda nice but i couldn`t do it :)

Problem is the loony hindus tend to classify `all others` as hindus too-jains, sikhs, buddhists etc.

In Tamil Nad the Lady has passed a law banning conversions `cos of the heat. Then to show she`s secular she went and got the top hindu priest there arraigned on a murder charge.

  4. Got it. Apparently the Jains increase was in reference to `growth rate` from 0.4% to 26%.

This was probably due to re-classidfication. Anyway, the hindutvas did get a rollicking in the last elections where `religion` got a beating.
