Hadi stands by DAP remarks, says he’ll answer in court

PAS president says he's yet to face charges over his remarks and has only been summoned by the cops to give his statement.

PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang has stood by several remarks made against DAP over the past month, saying he will defend them in court.

Hadi said the police summoned him to give a statement after receiving reports over his remarks, describing this as a normal process.

“I will answer all questions (about the statement) in court. As of now, no charges are going to be filed. I was only summoned to give a statement.

“What I wrote was based on DAP’s constitution and history. They cannot deny that. Anything else will be answered in court,” he said, according to Berita Harian.

Last week, Hadi’s aide said the Marang MP gave a statement to Bukit Aman after several police reports were lodged against him over his remarks, which purportedly “offended” DAP.

The PAS president had accused DAP of working to steer the constitution back towards secular rule and glorifying the Communist Party of Malaya’s struggle.

Hadi also claimed that DAP was leading Pakatan Harapan in “continuing the work of colonisers to destroy Malay-Muslims”, citing its push to revive local council elections and its “Malaysian Malaysia” vision, among others.

He parried criticism of his remarks, saying they were grounded in Islamic scripture, the Federal Constitution and past statements from DAP leaders.
