Hadi closes door to PAS mending ties with Bersatu
PAS president cites Bersatu's decision to go solo in the Negeri Sembilan polls and its intention to work with PH in the next Melaka election
The relationship between PAS and Bersatu began appearing shaky towards the end of last year, with tensions culminating in PAS ending their political cooperation in June.
PETALING JAYA: PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang has closed the door to the possibility of the Islamic party mending ties with Bersatu, despite both remaining part of Perikatan Nasional (PN).
Hadi pointed to Bersatu’s decision to go solo in the Aug 1 Negeri Sembilan state election and its intention to cooperate with Pakatan Harapan (PH) in the next Melaka state polls.
“In principle, (Bersatu) fought us in the Negeri Sembilan polls, and now, they want to be with PH,” he was quoted as saying by Utusan Malaysia.

Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin later accused PAS, which now chairs PN, of leading the opposition coalition astray and making it “toxic”.
In the Negeri Sembilan polls, Bersatu contested under its own logo and suffered heavy defeats as PN, which won seven seats, went on to form the state government with Barisan Nasional.
