Selangor MB’s office rejects ‘baseless, malicious’ claims against aide

The office says it will lodge a report with the authorities over the allegations levelled against the individual

The office of Selangor menteri besar Amirudin Shari said the accusations made in a newly created WhatsApp group are politically motivated and not based on facts.

PETALING JAYA: The office of Selangor menteri besar Amirudin Shari has dismissed allegations that an aide to Amirudin has amassed an unexplained amount of wealth since joining the office.

Amirudin’s office said the accusations made in a newly created WhatsApp group were malicious and politically motivated, with no factual basis.

“The officer involved will lodge a report with the authorities over this slanderous accusation,” it said in a statement.

“This is to realign our focus on the agenda of developing Selangor and uplifting the people’s wellbeing, not immature politics that involves spreading malicious, wild and false perceptions.”

An administrator identified only as “Madani” had set up a WhatsApp group on Friday, which included several Selangor assemblymen from both the government and the opposition, including Amirudin.

At least two reporters were added to the group, including one from FMT.

The administrator alleged that the aide had “become a millionaire” since Amirudin assumed office, owned a RM3 million bungalow, and taken his family on luxury overseas holidays.

Apart from holding a senior post in the state administration, “Madani” claimed the aide serves as a constituency coordinator and on the boards of a state-owned enterprise and an established golf club.

The aide is also said to be on the verge of being appointed to the board of another Selangor state agency.

In the chat, “Madani” addressed his messages directly to Amirudin, urging the menteri besar to answer honestly and fairly.

When contacted, the aide, whose identity is being withheld, said it was not appropriate to comment.
