PAS MUKTAMAR | PAS Youth today proposed party deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man as its first choice to be Perikatan Nasional’s prime minister candidate.
Speaking to reporters after the wing’s 66th muktamar in Kedah, PAS Youth chief Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden also floated several other names that they believe have the potential to lead PN and the country.
Among them was Kedah Menteri Besar Sanusi Nor, who is the PN election director.
“Our number one choice is the deputy president. Our party president (Abdul Hadi Awang) is also capable, but given his health issue, perhaps the best person is our deputy president.
“Besides, the president had also said before that he does not want to be a prime minister because he wants to give the opportunity to others,” Afnan said.

Hadi, 77, who is Marang MP, has been unwell and reportedly hospitalised on various occasions.
Earlier during the muktamar, PAS Youth delegates unanimously passed a resolution to urge the party leadership to take over PN and lead the country.
Afnan said the party has a number of capable leaders who have experience as cabinet ministers and menteri besar.
He pointed to PAS vice-presidents Idris Ahmad and Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, both MPs.
“We have many others, even the Kedah menteri besar can become an MP, then he can become a prime minister. So, no problem,” the Alor Setar MP added.
Tuan Ibrahim and Idris have previously served as federal ministers, while Samsuri is the current Terengganu menteri besar.
