Ti Lian Ker accuses DAP of hypocrisy over Sabah ‘moral high ground’ claim

FORMER MCA vice-president Datuk Seri Ti Lian Ker has hit out at DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke Siew Fook, dismissing his claims of taking the “moral high ground” in Sabah as a mere political charade.

In a statement, Ti questioned DAP and Pakatan Harapan’s alliance with Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), which has been embroiled in a mining scandal, as well as their cooperation with UMNO at the federal level.

“During the last general election, DAP demonised MCA for its ties with UMNO leaders facing corruption charges, particularly party president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. DAP told Malaysians that MCA had lost its credibility and moral standing.

“Yet today, DAP itself has chosen to ally with the very same coalition and leaders it once condemned MCA for associating with. If MCA’s association was unacceptable, then what makes DAP’s embrace of the same coalition acceptable now?

“DAP has chosen to ally not only with UMNO, but also with GRS – a coalition whose leaders are tainted with numerous videos and controversies,” Ti Lian Ker said.

He accused DAP of hypocrisy, stressing that its current political partnerships undermined its claims of integrity. Ti also took aim at DAP chairperson Lim Guan Eng, who is facing trial over the Penang undersea tunnel project, questioning whether the same standards of accountability applied to him.

His remarks were in response to Loke’s speech at a fundraising dinner in Kota Kinabalu, where the DAP leader highlighted that Sabah DAP leaders were not implicated in any leaked videos linked to the GRS mining scandal.

Businessperson Albert Tei had released a series of videos implicating more than a dozen GRS assemblypersons, some of whom now face charges.
Ti said DAP’s stance amounted to “pandai tayang, pandai wayang” (good at showing, good at acting), adding that accountability should not be applied selectively to suit political interests. — Sept 27, 2025
