FMT:
My political future not tied to any party, says KJ
Former minister Khairy Jamaluddin says what is more important is the ability to help as many people as possible

Former Umno Youth leader and three-term Rembau MP Khairy Jamaluddin was sacked from the party in January 2023 for breaching party discipline during the 15th general election.
PETALING JAYA: Former minister Khairy Jamaluddin has insisted that his political future should not be guided by allegiance to any particular party, amid speculation that he had appealed to rejoin Umno after being sacked.
“My political future should be tied to the ability to help as many people as possible and not to any particular political party,” he wrote on Instagram today.
Khairy was responding to an FMT report quoting political analysts as saying the former Umno Youth chief’s political future remained tied to Umno.
The report suggested that his appeal to rejoin the party was likely motivated by the assessment that no other party offers a genuine fit for his political ambitions.
It comes after FMT learnt that Khairy submitted an appeal letter over his January 2023 expulsion through an aide. However, Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the party has yet to receive it.
Khairy, the former health minister and three-term Rembau MP, was sacked from Umno in January 2023 for breaching party discipline during the 15th general election.
Since then, he has been active in the corporate and media world, while remaining an outspoken commentator on national politics and governance.
