Tengku Zafrul to decide on
Umno future after meeting
Zahid
The Umno Supreme Council member, who has been linked with a move to PKR, said he would make an announcement after the talks.

He said that he would make an announcement on his future only after his discussion with Zahid, Bernama reported. He did not state when the discussion would be held.
On a separate matter, Tengku Zafrul said he was aware of suggestions he would succeed Nazri Aziz as the Malaysian ambassador to the US.
“For me, any position offered now or in the future is up to the prime minister,” he was quoted as saying. Tengku Zafrul said he was focused on his duties as investment, trade and industry minister, especially with Malaysia chairing Asean.
His remarks on his political future today come nearly two months after speculation arose that he was planning to join PKR in an apparent bid to become the next Selangor menteri besar. He has since denied being in talks over state-level positions.
Speculation was further fuelled after PKR president Anwar Ibrahim later confirmed that talks were under way for Tengku Zafrul to join the party.
However, Zahid had then said that Tengku Zafrul had not informed him of any plans to leave, while PKR secretary-general Fuziah Salleh denied receiving a formal application from him.
A source previously told FMT that Tengku Zafrul may have been driven to explore a future with PKR due to strained ties with Umno warlords stemming from an internal power struggle and dissatisfaction within the party’s ranks.
