“Where’re your frogs?” Lokman Adam pans Akmal for being Abah’s spokesman

Focus Malaysia:

“Where’re your frogs?” Lokman Adam pans Akmal for being Abah’s spokesman

UMNO information director Datuk Lokman Noor Adam has reprimanded the party’s Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh for his ignorance over the Anti-Party Hopping Act to the extent that he has sided Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin who had wanted the party’s six turncoat MPs to vacate their seats, thus paving way for by-elections to be held.

Schooling the Merlimau state assemblyman who has in recent times poured scorn over the decision by Dewan Rakyat speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul on the matter, Lokman who is also an UMNO supreme council member described Muhyiddin’s job as “getting easier by the day as the UMNO Youth head has become a spokesman for Perikatan Nasional (PN)”.

“I’ve this calling to comment on the matter as the kid has gone astray … it’s very surprising that Akmal has appeared to be a spokesman for Muhyiddin whose statement has only received lukewarm response,” he pointed out in a Facebook video.

“I want to emphasise that the six Bersatu MPs and one Selangor state assemblyman (Selat Kelang) have never party hopped … Therefore, I want to tell Akmal not to simply unravel his stupidity.

Don’t be too shallow minded until you’re not aware that the legislation in question is the Anti-Party Hopping Act (when no hopping has taken place) … We’ve never passed any bill pertaining to rendering support to any individual. In fact, the existence of loopholes (today) – if any – is due to the foolishness of PN, in particular Bersatu.”

For context, the six Bersatu MPs who have their party memberships revoked recently for supporting Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim are Datuk Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal (Bukit Gantang), Zahari Kechik (Jeli), Mohd Azizi Abu Naim (Gua Musang), Datuk Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid (Kuala Kangsar), Datuk Zulkafperi Hanafi (Tanjong Karang) and Suhaili Abdul Rahman (Labuan).

Thee lone Selat Kelang state assemblyman who has also expressed support for the Selasngor star government under Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari is Datuk Abdul Rashid Asari.

Lokman further recalled how the Anti-Party Hopping Act – a brainchild of the then de facto law minister Datuk Seri (now Tun) Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar – was by nature ‘fool-proof’ and went through three revisions but was opposed by PN which realised that they would not be able to come into power without “stealing Barisan Nasional (BN) MPs”.

“Therefore, what’s the real intention of Akmal wanting to defend something which has never existed,” he fumed.

“If only the proposal by Wan Junaidi back then was accepted, the legislation would have been very tight till every MP would have to adhere to the decision of the party’s chief whip lest they lose their MP status.

“So, before he spoke at length, Akmal better study the matter in detail … don’t just listen to Muhyiddin for the latter only read a small portion of the Anti-Party Hopping Act.”

Lokman also reminded the Melaka state EXCO for Rural Development, Agriculture and Food Security that passing the Anti-Party Hopping Act is not an effort in vain as the latter has claimed.

“But what has been in vain is PN’s refusal to make the legislation so tight that at the end of the day, it came back to haunt Muhyiddin,” he justified.

“Had that been done, then no opposition MPs would today be able to extend their support to PMX … Perhaps, it’s best for Akmal to answer on Muhyiddin’s behalf why did the six Bersatu MPs lost faith in their president in the first place.” – July 13, 2024
