S'gor ruler: People tired of politicking, I'm tired of hearing about it
Selangor ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah has instructed state assemblypersons to focus on serving the people instead of politicking.
“Enough with politicking, the rakyat are tired. I am also tired of hearing about it (Beta pun penat dengar).
“It is time for the state representatives to wake up and think about the future of this state, country, and our descendants.
“Make Selangor great again like it used to be not so long ago,” the ruler said in his speech after swearing in 10 Selangor state executive council members at Istana Alam Shah in Klang this afternoon.
Selangor concluded its state election on August 12, which saw Pakatan Harapan and its new ally BN win 34 out of 56 state seats to form a state government.
While Harapan managed to retain its control of the wealthy state, the election saw the opposition party Perikatan Nasional gain grounds when it won 22 seats.
Meanwhile, in his speech, Sultan Sharafuddin also instructed the new state government to address problems faced by the people in the state as soon as possible, especially on issues involving development and infrastructure.
He pointed out that the problem of flash floods across the state "has been burdening my subjects", and stressed the need for a comprehensive plan to solve the issue.
"What is the point of being proud of our economic development, for being a wealthy state, and for being able to record the highest gross domestic product (GDP) in Malaysia when we can't even manage the people's basic needs," the ruler said.
The ruler also called all Selangor state assembly members to realise that the state has started to fall behind in economic performance.
"I have a high hope to see all of you provide excellent service by going down to the ground and monitoring all the planned development yourselves."
Politicking is off the scale because PN/PAS are sure it is their right, and within their capability to bring down the current Federal Government and PN to takeover, without waiting for elections.
