BANGKOK – Thaksin Shinawatra was reportedly moved to a police hospital last night after he said he felt unwell on his first night in prison.
Foreign reports said prison authorities asked doctors to diagnose him and they recommended he be referred to hospital.
Thai Corrections Department director Ayuth Sintoppant said the former leader was accompanied by eight prison officials when he was transferred last night.
It was reported that Thaksin suffered blood pressure issues and was unable to sleep.
Prison officials said their biggest concern for the 74-year-old leader was his heart condition.
Thaksin had pre-existing issues with his heart, lungs, and spine, officials from the department added.
