FORMER prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has been urged to ask his wanted son-in-law Datuk Seri Muhammad Adlan Berhan to return to Malaysia after being placed on Interpol’s Red Notice list.

According to UMNO Supreme Council leader Datuk Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi, Muhyiddin should have emulated the Perikatan Nasional’s (PN) “PN Best” slogan and set a good example.

“Does he still want to become prime minister? Then he should tell his son-in-law to return. There is nothing to fear if he (Adlan) is not in the wrong,” Puad said in a statement on Facebook today (Aug 28).

“I challenge Muhyiddin to issue a statement (on Adlan being placed on Interpol’s Red Notice list). Don’t embarrass the ‘PN Best’ slogan and the coalition’s ‘Prihatin, Bersih dan Stabil’ (caring, clean and stable) motto.”

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain confirmed to a Malay daily last week that Adlan, alongside lawyer Mansoor Saat, have been placed on the Interpol Red Notice list.

This is after the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) had put in a request with the police.

Adlan and Mansoor are being sought by MACC to assist in an investigation into a project involving the registration, recruitment and storage of foreign worker biometric data at a ministry.

It was previously reported that MACC said that checks with the Immigration Department showed that Muhammad Adlan and Mansoor left the country on May 17 and 21 respectively and that there were no records of the two returning to Malaysia.

On Aug 10, MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said the anti-corruption agency had been looking for Adlan since June but the businessman had failed to cooperate.

He also said the two men stop making excuses and just return to the country.

However, both Adlan and Mansoor had subsequently issued statements through their lawyers denying that they are on the run from the law, with both men saying that they had previously informed MACC about their travel plans but had not received any response. – Aug 28, 2023
