Ramasamy: It is imperative for Anthony Loke not be a puppet to DAP’s “emperor”
DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke Siew Fook must be honest enough to admit that the dropping of the party’s six candidates for this Saturday’s (Aug 12) six state elections was a “political purge initiated by the ‘Emperor’ (moniker for DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng) and endorsed by the five-men national committee headed by him”.
Hitting out at the Transport Minister, former Penang chief minister II Prof Ramasamy Palanisamy who quit DAP today said Loke is not the leader of the once vibrant DAP but that “of a party that has infamously acquired the name of MCA 2.0”.
“A person who lacks the basic decency and courage in advancing the rights of non-Malays has the temerity to talk about sincerity and party loyalty,” lambasted Ramasamy on his Facebook page after the Seremban MP claimed that he did not regret dropping Ramasamy as a candidate for the Penang state election.
“He claimed that I rode the DAP for power and position. But he himself lacks the elementary guts to oppose the whims and fancies of the ‘Emperor’ in DAP. He is beholden to him forever.”
Added the former Perai state assemblyman who had refused ‘to be promoted as MP’ during the 15th General Election (GE15): “Under his (Loke’s) ineffective leadership, he not only compromised the rights of the non-Malays but has placed the party on the path of the MCA and MIC.”
Meanwhile, former Bagan Dalam state assemblyman Satees Muniandy has described Loke’s statement that Ramasamy “has rode on DAP’ for position” as “both rude and reflecting his personality as the Emperor’s puppet”.
“Anthony Loke dare not confront the ‘Emperor’ who tries to make the party and the state of Penang like his private property,” berated Satees who will be defending his Bagan Dalam seat as an independent candidate.
“Don’t think that the Indian community has no other choice but to support your party especially after the entry of new people with MIC’s DNA into your party.
“Top party leaders like you are not ashamed to turn DAP into MIC 2.0. But those of us who joined the party because of principles and struggle do not need to compromise our position for a political position like you.”
Added Satees: “Two weeks into the campaign period, Penangites in general are seeing how DAP has become MIC 2.0, especially in Perai and Bagan Dalam.” – Aug 10, 2023

P.S.: Below is the media statement by DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke (in full):
I strongly deny the allegations of former Penang deputy chief minister Dr P. Ramasamy who allegedly that I lacked “courtesy” to inform the decision not to nominate him as the DAP candidate in this upcoming state elections.
On July 25 (Tuesday), DAP National vice-chairman Nga Kor Ming and I went to Penang to meet face-to-face with every state assembly candidate who was not re-nominated in this upcoming state poll before the DAP candidate announcement ceremony on the same evening.
The meeting took place at Penang DAP headquarters and was also attended by Penang DAP chairman Chow Kon Yeow. Nga, Chow and I met each of the non-nominated candidates separately and I personally informed them of the party’s decision and gave them a chance to give feedback.
The session lasted over an hour and caused me to miss the candidate announcement ceremony.
I am deeply disappointed by the actions of Dr Ramasamy who is willing to lie in this matter. This lie takes away all my respect for him as my former lecturer.
I wish to repeat that anyone who leaves the party after not being re-appointed in the election is an insincere person and disloyal to the party struggle. They only ride on the party for position and position. When there is no more position, the party is abandoned.

Haiz, DAP kena teruk this time...how to vote for them this time ah ?
ReplyDeleteOn the point by Loke that he spoke personally to all those being dropped; in truth, I tend to believe him (Loke). I just can't wrap round my head that Loke would just ignore those to be dropped. Loke would have worried about their exclusion and try to soften the blow. Still, the backlash including resignations is total chaos for DAP.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I would not blame Ramasamy for leaving because of factional rivalry; seemingly involving LGE.
It was a stupid excuse to cite renewal for dropping those candidates when they included the young too.
Of course the PN candidates are rubbing their hands in glee.
Not much time is left for DAP to salvage the situation and soothe their supporters.
