FMT:
Loke dismisses Hadi’s claim of friction within the government
The DAP secretary-general says there are no plots to topple the Anwar Ibrahim-led administration.
Loke Siew Fook has poured cold water on Abdul Hadi Awang’s claim that there are signs of discontent among the component parties making up the unity government.
PETALING JAYA: Transport minister Loke Siew Fook has rubbished PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang’s claim that friction within the government could lead to it failing to complete its term.
Speaking at an AirAsia event at klia2 today, Loke insisted that there were no plots to topple the Anwar Ibrahim-led government from within.
“For me, the unity government today is strong (and) solid,” he said.
“The top leaders in each of the coalitions have given their full assurance and cooperation to realise the unity government’s agenda.
“I am confident there are no efforts among them to weaken or topple the unity government.”
He said the coalition’s partners had a good working relationship, adding that there were “no fights at all” during the weekly Cabinet meetings, which focused on solving problems.
Loke, the DAP secretary-general, was asked to comment on Hadi’s claim yesterday that there were “signs of discontent” among the component parties making up the government.
The unity government comprises Pakatan Harapan, Barisan Nasional, Gabungan Parti Sarawak and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah and has the support of MPs from Muda, Warisan, Parti Bangsa Malaysia as well as independents.
Loke said while government MPs may voice out their dissatisfaction or differences in opinion, it did not mean the government was about to topple.
He also called Hadi irresponsible for saying that the opposition was out to regain Putrajaya, stating that it showed Perikatan Nasional’s leaders “had nothing better to do”.
Hadi told reporters in Parliament yesterday the opposition was working on toppling the government, and that it had every right to do so.
Last week, the Marang MP also predicted that Anwar’s administration would collapse “soon”, claiming that its “roof is leaky and the front door is wide open”.

Never underestimate Hadi's potential for successful mischief.
