No more lottery shops in Kedah from today
Menteri besar Sanusi Md Nor’s administration had announced an effective ban on 4D and gaming shops throughout the state in 2021.
ALOR SETAR: Gaming shops will no longer be allowed to operate in PAS-led Kedah effective today following the state government’s decision not to renew the licences of such premises.
Menteri besar Sanusi Md Nor said local authorities had been told to check if any such outlets were still operating.
“If they want their gambling licences and business licences back, they will have to vote for Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional in Kedah,” he told FMT.
PAS is part of Perikatan Nasional, which are rivals to PH and BN.
Sanusi’s administration announced an effective ban on 4D and gaming shops throughout the state on Nov 14, 2021, ordering local councils not to renew their annual business licences.
A short reprieve was given later, with licences not to be renewed after Dec 31, 2022 as federal approvals for 4D shops were in effect until then.
There are 45 gaming outlets in the state, according to a written reply in the Kedah assembly, with one immediately shuttering when the ban was announced in 2021.
DAP had since filed a court challenge against Kedah’s “unreasonable” refusal to renew the business licences of 4D shops.
Sanusi had then welcomed all legal challenges against the gambling-free policy that takes effect today.

What next? No more liquor sales? Then, why not ban cigarette sale. I understand cigarettes have been declared haram. And if not, why not?
ReplyDeleteNo cinemas like Kelantan. Separate queue for men and women etc...
Perhaps PAS will in time follow the Taliban's lead and prevent girls from attending school.
Wouldn't that be wonderful?
So, what say the PAS non-muslim wing? Still think Hadi's shit smells like roses?
Now babi is no longer potong in Kedah. We don't have fresh meat now. Now if To Pek Kong gives me a good 4 digit dream number where can I tikam? Also I cannot tikam my new car's number? Sad!
