‘Say no to PAS’ convoy spotted in Kuching

PETALING JAYA: A convoy of vehicles was found going around Kuching, Sarawak today blaring “Say no to PAS”, amid reports that Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) is sticking to its decision to back Perikatan Nasional in forming the government.
The convoy of five vehicles was seen in various parts of Kuching city, with posters urging Sarawakians to oppose and protest GPS’ decision to support PN, which comprises PAS and Bersatu among others.
“We want (GPS chairman) Abang Johari Openg to withdraw (GPS’) support (for PN chairman Muhyiddin Yassin to become prime minister),” said one of the posters hung on the vehicles.
The convoy had driven around Carpenter Street and the Kuching Open Air Market, among other areas.
On Sunday, Abang Johari said GPS voiced its intention to form the government with PN, Barisan Nasional and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah.
However, BN later decided not to form the government with PN or Pakatan Harapan, saying it will remain in the opposition.
GPS then seemed to change its stand, saying it would let the King decide what was best for the people.
Nonetheless, Fadillah Yusof, a senior vice-president in GPS lynchpin Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu, said the Sarawak coalition had not changed its stand and would continue to back Muhyiddin for the top post.
Fadillah later said the King told GPS leaders when they met him at Istana Negara this morning that a unity government might be the solution to the ongoing political impasse.
“The four of us replied that we could not make a decision on this because it lies with GPS’ top leadership,” the Petra Jaya MP said.

This Abang fellow must be looking to commit political if he still wants to support PN.
ReplyDeleteIf he does not make clear his stand to NOT support PN, hopefully all MPs under GPS will find a way to be sacked and go independent.
They can then elect to work with PH.
Even the Catholic and Anglican churches are telling this idiot Abang guy to not support PN.
