PH govt will go after Sanusi, says Saifuddin

Saifuddin Nasution said a new Pakatan Harapan government would take on a challenge for a court hearing on allegations made against Anwar.

ALOR SETAR: PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said that a Pakatan Harapan-led government would take on a challenge by Sanusi Md Nor of PAS to seek a court hearing over a slur on PH chairman Anwar Ibrahim.

Speaking at a grand finale ceramah by Kedah PH, Saifuddin referred to statements made about Anwar by Sanusi, who is PAS election director, and a letter of demand from Anwar demanding a retraction and apology.

“And then, he (Sanusi) said in a ceramah in Sik that he will fight this at the court. Okay, we will wait. Once PH forms a government with your support, ladies and gentlemen, we will go after him,” said Saifuddin.

On Thursday, Sanusi said he would not apologise to Anwar Ibrahim for insinuating that the PKR president was of “immoral character”.

Saifuddin debunked a statement allegedly made by Sanusi that the Pardons Board freed Anwar in 2018 without meeting once.

But Saifuddin said the board had met on May 16, 2018, at Istana Negara, with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, then Sultan Muhammad V of Kelantan, chairing the meeting.

“When (Sanusi) said the Pardons Board simply let Anwar go without a meeting, he had insulted and ridiculed the King,” said Saifuddin.

Lowering the cost of living

Saifuddin, who seeks re-election in the Kulim-Bandar Baharu seat, said the first task of a new PH government would be to form a national committee to address the cost of living.

Anwar himself as the prime minister would chair the meeting.

This committee will be tasked with figuring out ways to reduce the rising cost of goods that have been hitting Malaysians’ pockets.

Kedah PH chairman Mahfuz Omar, said that should PH form the next government after Nov 19, he will “whisper” three things to Anwar, which are:an increased padi subsidy of RM500 per tonne in January and February next year, the harvest season;
Higher education scholarships for youths from the B40 income group; and
A sports centre for Pokok Sena youths

Mahfuz is running for re-election in Pokok Sena, where he seeks a fourth term.
