Otai Reformis claims manipulation of data in Bkt Cherakah issue
Some manipulation of data and information have cast a shroud of illusion over Bukit Cherakah Forest Reserve redevelopment, Otai Reformis 1998 claimed today.
Its secretary Abdul Razak Ismail (above) expressed his dissatisfaction with the handling of the forest reserve by the Selangor government.
“We feel that there has been some sort of manipulation of data and information by the Selangor government.
“This has shrouded the Bukit Cherakah Forest Reserve issue in a cloud of mystery,” said Razak in a statement today.
He also cited Dr Teckwyn Lim’s accidental findings in the Governmental Gazette which showed that the forest reserve was mysteriously and suddenly degazetted on May 5.
About 400ha of the forest reserve was excised allegedly without any public inquiry.
“If it’s true that it was degazetted on the day, the question to ask would be when did the Selangor government have a public inquiry to process the dissent from the public,” Razak said.
Additionally, the Bar Council had given the Selangor government a warning on Nov 8 to follow the law and process regarding the governance of the forest.
“The Bar Council had given this warning as the government failed to provide a proper answer about the status of the forest,” said Razak.
