PETALING JAYA: The Registrar of Societies (RoS) has given PKR more time to clarify the results of its party elections, says PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

He told FMT the party had given preliminary information after receiving RoS’ official notice on July 5, though he will need to provide it with a “more complete response”.

Saifuddin said he had been given until July 19 to get back to the registrar, which prompted him to seek an extension as he was focused on the party’s national congress at the time.

“RoS agreed with the extension, so I will have to submit all the necessary information before Aug 2. Although I received the extension, I have given them some early information,” he said.

On July 17, Saifuddin said PKR was issued the notice to clarify its election results after RoS received “several complaints” about the process.

PKR, which received more than 1,800 complaints of fraud during the party polls in May, postponed its national congress from June to July to allow a forensic audit of the election results.

PKR election committee chief Dr Zaliha Mustafa previously said the audit found that there were attempts to manipulate the results through hacking the system, with the experts involved in the audit recommending that the party update its voting records, which it duly did.

Critics claimed that the audit ignored the complaints and objections raised by candidates regarding online voting.
