KUALA LUMPUR – Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman (Pasir Salak-BN) triggered another commotion in the Dewan Rakyat today after he claimed that opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (Port Dickson-PH) and Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad (Langkawi-Pejuang) are political frogs.

While debating the anti-hopping law in the lower House today, Tajuddin chastised both leaders for switching political allegiances when it suits them.

“What causes the issue of party hopping? Their leader…isn’t that right?

“Dr Mahathir had jumped all over, isn’t that right? He was from Umno, then he hopped here and there. He is one of them.

“Who else? Port Dickson (Anwar) of course,” he said.

Before Tajuddin could proceed, Karuppaiya Muthusamy (Padang Serai-PH) interjected and pointed out that Anwar was actually dropped from Umno.

Datuk Johari Abdul (Sungai Petani-PH) echoed Karuppaiya’s statement, saying Anwar was not a political frog, as he was sacked from the party.

The exchange of words led to a shouting match between lawmakers on both sides.

A visibly irked Tajuddin then chided opposition lawmakers for their supposed uncouth behaviour in the Dewan Rakyat.

“If they don’t change, then Parliament (proceedings) will continue this way,” he said, which immediately drew a burst of huge laughter from the opposition bench.

“Pasir Salak, look into the mirror, please,” said Sim Tze Tzin (Bayan Baru-PH) to Tajuddin.

Tajuddin then went on a tirade, saying that parties in PH, specifically DAP, are losing public support. He also challenged the opposition to accept an immediate general election.

“This is what we are going to do. We are going to take it to the rakyat and change you all (opposition lawmakers), I promise you. You (can) come to Pasir Salak and see whether you can win or not.”

Deputy Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Mohd Rashid Hasnon then called for calm before asking Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin (Hang Tuah Jaya-PH) to proceed with his debate.

Before continuing with his debate, Shamsul expressed his “gratitude” to Tajuddin for entertaining the Dewan Rakyat during the latter’s debate.

“Thank you the speaker, and of course Pasir Salak for entertaining the Dewan this afternoon,” he said.

Tajuddin then made a retort to Shamsul, telling him not to be sarcastic.

“There is no need for more jibes. You are already bald, you will lose more hair later,” Tajuddin said. – The Vibes, July 28, 2022
