Zuraida is now PBM 'president-designate'
Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) has accepted Ampang MP Zuraida Kamaruddin as a member and immediately elevated her to "president-designate".
At a press conference today, PBM president Larry Sng said the decision was made unanimously by the party's political bureau and supreme council.
"The supreme council will meet again soon to amend the party constitution to allow a smooth leadership transition," he said.
He added that the party’s political bureau and supreme council had discussed preparations for the AGM to be held in about two months’ time.
"I think after the committee decides what the best formula is, then we will announce it to the public."
In addition, Sng revealed that PBM had mandated Zuraida to lead delegations to meet other party leaders in terms of admission into any coalition.
"We already decided, the president-designate, myself, and the secretary-general, the three of us will be part of this committee, which would be led by the president-designate."

Potential team-up with BN
Sng was the only one who answered questions from the media, while Zuraida will hold another press conference by this week.
However, Zuraida briefly responded to questions on her cabinet post, saying the meeting between herself and Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob had not been arranged yet as the PM had an audience with the Kedah sultan.
Sng said PBM would leave the matter entirely for the PM to decide but hoped that Zuraida would be retained in her ministerial post based on her performance and the support PBM has given.
Asked if Zuraida will contest in Ampang again in the 15th general election, Sng said they would leave the issue to a later time as PBM has not considered where it will contest.
On rumours that more elected representatives will join PBM, Sng said the party is open to anyone eligible and it will make announcements if there are any MPs or state assemblypersons joining the party.
Sng also revealed that PBM had initiated efforts to join BN and is currently waiting for a response.
On May 26, Zuraida announced her decision to leave Bersatu and join PBM, saying she would discuss her resignation as a minister with the prime minister.
In response, Ismail Sabri said he would decide this matter after he met Zuraida.
