“Still gung-ho over ‘big tent’”? Netizens ask over expose that UKSB paid Muhyiddin, Shafie

YESTERDAY, a former administrative manager of Ultra Kirana Sdn Bhd (UKSB) told the High Court that former prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and former Sabah chief minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal had received monies from the company.

According to Free Malaysia Today, the ex-manager, David Tan said that Muhyiddin had received RM1.3 mil between June and August 2018.

The expose was made during the corruption trial involving former deputy prime minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahdi Hamidi. Tan added he kept spreadsheet files involving payments made to Zahid and other “ministers, politicians and Government staff”.

Tan also said that UKSB has made payments to former foreign minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman and Housing and Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican but did not specify the amount.

Following the revelation in court, netizens took to social media to bemoan how corruption had become endemic in the administrative and mocked the leaders.

(Still want to put up a “big tent”?)

User Soy Halima pointed out that most of the leaders mentioned in the trial like Muhyiddin and Shafie are favourites of former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

(They are all loved by the nonagenarian. Shafie is rooting to become prime minister)

Netizen Famoy retorted:

(No wonder Shafie is against an alliance with Pakatan Harapan. He is ‘addicted’ to graft. Another party with crutch mentality)

Following the revelation, Muhyiddin promptly denied receiving any funds from UKSB and welcomed the authorities to investigate him.

“That statement is false, and I strongly deny it.

“At the time, I was undergoing an operation and then was on leave for several months for follow-up treatment,” the Pagoh MP had stated, who serving as home minister back then during Pakatan’s administration.

All in the “UMNO DNA”

On that note, user Phillip Skadiang said a law should be enacted to bar corrupt politicians from ever making a comeback to clear Malaysia’s image.

(All these people should be banned from politics. There should be a law for it or else, how are we to become a respected nation?)

Netizen Faisal.MN remarked:

(It’s all from the UMNO mould. Bersatu, Pejuang, MUDA, Warisan and Parti Bangsa Malaysia all share UMNO’s values. Never work with them) – June 18, 2022
