PAS sacks Khairuddin as Syura Council secretary
Khairuddin Aman Razali has been removed from the PAS Syura Council because of disciplinary issues.
PETALING JAYA: Khairuddin Aman Razali has been sacked as secretary of the PAS Syura Council.
This comes a month after the Kuala Nerus MP was expelled from the party’s central committee.
Khairuddin’s removal yesterday, owing to disciplinary issues, was confirmed by PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang after a meeting of the central committee on Wednesday.
“Since his appointment in the Syura Council was made by the PAS central committee, it has been revoked by the same committee.
“He is no longer the secretary of the PAS Syura Council effective yesterday (Thursday),” he was quoted by Sinar Harian as saying.
Hadi said Khairuddin now remains a member of PAS, but without holding any of the highest positions in the party that he had held earlier.
In November last year, Khairuddin was among three high-level leaders reappointed as PAS central committee members for 2021-2023, after losing in the party polls.
He was appointed together with Zuhdi Marzuki and Nik Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz.
But on Jan 12, the former plantation industries and commodities minister was dropped as a committee member after being in the post for less than two months.
His removal from the central committee was handled by PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan.
FMT previously reported that Khairuddin had hinted he was dropped as a committee member due to his push for the party to continue working with Umno through Muafakat Nasional (MN).
Hadi is said to be against maintaining MN should Umno continue to reject Bersatu as part of the alliance.
