JOHOR BARU, Feb 9 — The Health Ministry (MoH) recorded 17,134 new Covid-19 cases today, continuing a streak of increasing daily cases over the past week.

Today’s number is over 3,000 more than yesterday’s 13,944.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said today that 70 per cent of hospital beds prepared for Covid-19 patients are currently being utilised — which is a 2.7 per cent increase from yesterday.

This is the first time that the number of daily cases has breached the 17,000-mark since September 17, 2021.

  1. For those fully vaccinated, with booster shots, especially mrna vaccine, the statistics show less than 0.2 % get anything more than very mild symptoms, little more than a cold.

  2. Wakakakaka…

U do read statistics, especially those from yr idols, like comics!

A simple question, why the high crest wave within the latest omicron attacks in all those countries vaccinated with mRNA vaccines?

Most news tell u about high infection but mild symptoms, with high dead rate & critical hospitalisation with those unvaccinated.

Yet, there r still vaccinated - complete with booster - got reinfected & died. Many r young & healthy too.

These r the numbers that those news ignored about the lethality of the omicron variant. & u shallowed the 'good' news wholesome!

    1. In Malaysia, most of those fully vaccinated - complete with booster - who got reinfected & died were found to have been fully vaccinated and boosted with Sinovac.

That is the key reason why the MOH switched en mass to Pfizer -even though it is more expensive and shorter shelf life and more complex supply chain.

Malaysian Government dare not say it out aloud for fear of offending China, which, as Namewee said with devastating accuracy, is Very Fragile.

  3. A simple lesson of covid-19 statistic.

Why we need to compare the rates of death between vaccinated and unvaccinated?

Imagine we live in a place with a population of 60 people.

Then we learn that 10 people died. And we learn that 50% of them were vaccinated.

The newspaper may run the headline “Half of those who died from the virus were vaccinated”. But this headline does not tell us anything about whether the vaccine is protecting people or not.

To be able to say anything, we also need to know about those who did not die: how many people in this population were vaccinated? And how many were not vaccinated?

Now we have all the information we need and can calculate the death rates:

of 10 unvaccinated people, 5 died → the death rate among the unvaccinated is 50%

of 50 vaccinated people, 5 died → the death rate among the vaccinated is 10%

We therefore see that the death rate among the vaccinated is 5-times lower than among the unvaccinated.

In the example, we invented numbers to make it simple to calculate the death rates. But the same logic applies also in the current COVID-19 pandemic. Comparisons of the absolute numbers, as some headlines do, is making a mistake that’s known in statistics as a ‘base rate fallacy’: it ignores the fact that one group is much larger than the other. It is important to avoid this mistake, especially now, as in more and more countries the number of people who are vaccinated against COVID-19 is much larger than the number of people who are unvaccinated.

The United States has fully vaccinated 64% of its population, mostly with the mRNA vaccines produced by Pfizer and Moderna.

    cf:https://ourworldindata.org/covid-deaths-by-vaccination

Pay special attention to the death curve before & after Jan12022. This is the cutoff point where almost 90% of the cases in US is Delta (before) & Omicron (after)related.

The death rate is consistently flat amongst the vaccinated (mRNA) but skyrocketed for those unvaccinated.

Question - if mRNA is so effective why the death rate for the vaccinated populace remains contant when the covid valiants change?

Is the efficacy shown in the Delta case has very little change when the ,so called MILDER symptoms, Omicron takes realm?

Think about u - all u mRNA worshippers!
