Cops seek Nur Sajat as witness in fraud case

Nur Sajat was granted asylum in Australia after fleeing to Thailand last February.

PETALING JAYA: Police are looking for cosmetics entrepreneur Nur Sajat to help in an investigation into a fraud case involving the change of information in an identity card.

The Ampang Jaya district police headquarters said the hearing was ongoing and Nur Sajat was needed as a witness on Feb 22.

FMT has learnt that Nur Sajat, now residing in Australia, is an important witness and has been absent twice since last year.

In a statement, Ampang police listed her last known address as Jalan Polo Country Club, Kota Damansara.

Nur Sajat’s troubles with the authorities began in January last year when the religious department summoned her after allegedly receiving public complaints.

A month later, she fled to Thailand before moving to Australia, where she has been granted asylum.

In an interview with the New York Times, she claimed that religious officers had groped her when she was called in for questioning.

The department responded by saying that it would let the police investigate her allegation and charge its officers if her claim was true.

  1. Nur Sajat is "the one that got away"
Some officials will leave no stone unturned to ensure she is back in Malaysian custody.

Even seriously violent criminals do not get the same level of resources assigned to find them.

  2. I hope Nur will not oblige the police. I believe it is a ruse to get her back to Malaysia and apprehend her.
