Hadi more imaginative (and sinister) than his No 2 Tuan Ibrahim

Hadi seemingly contradicts deputy on Timah whisky controversy

While PAS number two Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man says the word Timah means tin, party president Abdul Hadi Awang feels the name is close to the Muslim name Fatimah.

PETALING JAYA: PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang has seemingly contradicted his deputy on the Timah whisky controversy, stating that the name of the liquor resembles that of the Prophet Muhammad’s daughter.

“Whatever the reason given, the use of the name ‘Timah’ in the Malay language is close to the name of Fatimah al-Zahra, the beloved daughter of the Prophet Muhammad, and this can be considered as touching on the sensitivities of Muslims,” he was quoted as saying in Harakah Daily.

On Tuesday, PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said that Timah means tin and is “not a Muslim name or even a person’s name”.

“The name Timah is not a Muslim name or a person’s name. It is a type of metal. Furthermore, the logo is a picture of a man. There is no man named Timah,” he was quoted as saying in Harakah Daily.

However, Tuan Ibrahim did say that the use of the word “Timah” as the brand name was “confusing”.

In today’s Harakah Daily report, Hadi also said that those in charge of Islamic affairs should not allow any misuse of names that try to “confuse Muslims”.

The duo’s comments come in the wake of complaints about the name of the whisky produced by Malaysian distillery Winepak, which has won international awards over the past two years.

Certain quarters have taken offence at the whisky’s name, believing it to be a shortened version of the Arabic name Fatimah, while some claim that the image of a bearded man wearing headgear on the label is that of a man wearing the Muslim kopiah.

PAS Youth information chief Nazir Helmi had reportedly urged the government to close down the operations of the company producing the whisky.

  1. The Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) daughter's name is actually spelt Fatima, same as Our Lady of Fatima, the name given to Jesus's mother Mary by Catholics. There is even a Church named after her in KL. I hope one day some fanatic does not insist the church change its name otherwise some confused Muslim might wander in and start praying to the wrong God.

  2. Strange but true - only the islam practised in Malaysia do you get this nonsense about banned words that cannot be used by the nons eg Allah or even the nons cannot use the capital G to refer to their God. Now they are up in arms about the name of a whisky.

Notice that the hypocrites at PAS are in the forefront of this objection. Remember Hadi and his "halal" justification of the MR90 mil from UMNO?

It does not surprise me anymore that these bigots are foaming in the mouth because the whisky producers were "insensitive" of the feelings of the muslims.

And has anybody noticed that the case of the idiot who insulted the religious practices of the nons is somehow under wraps? What about the 2 idiot converts Firdaus Wong and the Indian muslim (can't remember his name) who insulted the religions of the nons? I believe it was NFAed.

How many times have the muslim bigots caused much racial disharmony with their incendiary and insensitive statements and yet not a SINGLE one was punished?

This is Kerajaan Allah and a religion that is peaceful and just - Ptui!!!!
