Desperate Mahathir in Tanjung Piai

Malaysia Chronicle:

NECK ON THE LINE, MAHATHIR SPENDS 2 DAYS IN TANJUNG PIAI – BUT CAN HE SNATCH THE VOTES FOR BERSATU PRIBUMI & STAVE OFF DEMANDS FOR HIS OWN RESIGNATION

PONTIAN – Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is spending almost 16 hours over two days in Tanjung Piai in a bid to keep Pakatan Harapan’s hopes alive following reports that the coalition is trailing behind the Opposition.

Talk has been intense that Barisan Nasional is the favourite to win the by-election as sentiments favoured the Opposition.

Dr Mahathir, who rarely campaigns in by-elections, is taking the rare move of spending two days to meet voters, local leaders and government servants.

He has also uploaded a video asking voters to attend his mega ceramah in Kukup, which has a vote base of more than 25,000 people, mostly Malays.

Attendance of the voters at Pakatan Harapan ceramah has been lacklustre and videoclips have been circulated showing the poor turnout, while those of the Barisan has commanded strong crowd attendance.

Dr Mahathir had back-to-back functions in Tanjung Piai from 5pm yesterday, meeting with Pakatan polling district centre chiefs, attending the mega ceramah and holding a walkabout at the Kukup night market.

Many leaders from around the country, including Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, are also here attending walkabouts, speaking at ceramah and attending events hoping to convince the people.

Muhyiddin said Pakatan would be focusing on the 12% fence sitters as these voters had yet to decide, adding that its machinery had so far reported encouraging signs from the constituents following explanations on the government policies.

However, he said Pakatan should not be confident, adding that the remaining two days before polling day was very critical.

“There is about 12% fence sitters and they are waiting until the last minute to make their final decision.

“We know who they are because our polling district centres have their breakdown and we will contact them and ask for their cooperation to vote, ” he said, adding that those on the fence were between the ages of 25 and 45.

Pakatan, he said, would also be focusing on urging outside voters, including those working in Singapore, to come back and vote.

In Kuala Lumpur, Parliament House, which is meeting, is mostly empty as many MPs have come down to Tanjung Piai for the last few days of hectic campaigning to try to lock in the votes for their candidates.

Truants from Dewan Rakyat

Lamenting the attendance of the Pakatan MPs and ministers, senior Barisan lawmaker Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim said the coalition would often deploy their division chiefs instead of having MPs to campaign.

“We could have easily called for a quorum, but that would disrupt the Parliament’s proceedings, ” he said.

  1. Slaughter Time....!

Tf you look at the World Atlas, Tanjung Piai is at the bottom-most point of continental Asia. Similarly it may be the bottom-most point of Bersatu's political existence. Bersatu's Boss Toonsie sees it coming, so does their no.2 Muhyiddin, that's why they are campaigning so hard.

If Bersatu loses this by-election they not only lose one seat in Parliament, but they also lose their credibility as the "Malay champion" within Harapan and weaken Toonsie's claim to the PM's post.
UMNO-PAS can crow like a cockerel and claim to be the Malay-champion, see, Bersatu/Toonise can't even beat a Chinese candidate, what mmore UMNO-PAS.

Bersatu will have only 25 seats (of which 13 are poisonous cane toads), vs DAPs 42, PKR's 50 and Amanah's 11. A simple tap on the shoulder will suffice.

Azmin and Zuraidah's gang's future is also on the line in this by-election, if Bersatu loses, as with the likes of Flying Car minister, Boy Minister, Black Shoe Minister and so on.

Meanwhile DAP, PKR (minus Azmin, Zuraidah) and Amanah only pura-pura go all-out campaigning. In reality they (including Anwar ha ha ha) prefer Bersatu to lose, because they know a Bersatu loss will mean Toonsie's hold on the PM's post will be considerably weakened.

We all know but are too afraid to speak the fact that Toonsie and the other characters in Bersatu are the main stumbling blocks to accelerate the reforms that a New Malaysia needs.

Anwar is ready to take over. So bring out the knives.

Meanwhile DAP is playing a masterful strategy, from Sun Tzu's "Art of War". Tanjung Piai is only a battle, and DAP is not even contesting the seat. Their big guns LKS and Guanee pura-pura campaign for Bersatu/Toonsie but at the same time allow Ronnie Liew to go unpunished after he hentam Toonsie and ask him to resign as PM.
