Some have been more subtle in their voiced unhappiness like Azmin Ali (see MKINI's

Then there are those who have turned a bit 'ugly' like Patriots, a veterans organisation (headed by retired Brig-Jen Raja Arshad). A war of words has commenced between the general and the just-resigned MP for PD, Danyal Balagopal Abdullah who is also a retired Admiral (General) - see MM Online's We toiled hard for your victory, Patriot tells quitting PD lawmaker.
As if that was not enough, retired Brig-Jen Arshard has threatened to overturn the durian cart. FMT reported:
Arshad said the group was not against Anwar contesting in a by-election.
“In fact, we have the best wishes for him as he is the prime minister-in-waiting."
“In fact, we have the best wishes for him as he is the prime minister-in-waiting."
“Patriot is only against Danyal resigning to make way for Anwar. We are expressing the disappointment of numerous veterans expressed through social media, and even calls to send a retired officer to contest as an independent in the forced by-election.”.
... it [Patriots] viewed the retired admiral as just a pawn in PKR’s political intrigues and told him not to bother continuing to serve the constituency as he said he would, as he has no clout to do so.
“He can consider it lucky if his name is scribed into history in a mere single sentence mention of an MP who has resigned,” the group said in a statement.
“There is a big difference between speaking out as an MP and as an officer serving under an MP. The voice of an MP, whose positioned is high in the protocol ranking, speaking out on veterans and retired police issues carries a lot of weight.”
Meanwhile TMI reported:

Patriots warned Anwar Ibrahim against creating a family dynasty in Parliament, saying the PKR leader should have asked his wife or daughter instead of the Port Dickson MP, a retired rear admiral, to give up their federal seat for him.
National Patriots Association (Patriot) president Brigadier-General (rtd) Mohamad Arshad Raji said Anwar should have picked either Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail’s Pandan seat, or Nurul Izzah’s Permatang Pauh seat.

Sad thing is the Anwar family has been caught in a dilemma. Knowing they are surrounded by enemies and "enemies", they dare not ask Princess Iron Fan to give up Pandan. She perceives the need to hang on to the DPM post for dear life, for fear of possible events happening during that brief interlude.
And of course Nurul Izzah is too young to surrender her Permatang Pauh seat when she has a future in politics.
Poor Danyal Balagopal Abdullah has been caught in a scheme hatched by Rafizi, while has riled Patriots.
It's a lose-lose-lose situation for PKR, or at least the Pandan Cats faction.

It’s time for our senators to be elected instead of being appointed. Then with the appropriate constitutional amendments we can allow the PM to be from either house. Another 70 seats would be available for election. The seats can be allocated proportionally according to the population of each state.
ReplyDeleteHowever a PM from the Dewan Negara would be very time consuming for that person as he/she may still have to attend Dewan Rakyat sessions as laws are tabled there first.
each House serves a different set of purposes so you can't have two Houses from which the PM could be nominated - there'll be utter chaos and confusion, and the judges of constitutional courts will tear their hair off should there be a dispute. Senate serves as a vetting agency of bills passed by teh Lower House (Dewan Rakyat) and check & balance the other House as well as looking after the states of a Federation. Don't forget that states' rights may well be different from those of the central government (eg. Sabah, sarawak, Kelantan, Terengganu today)
DeleteI don't care to address those who are opposing Anwar's return to Parliament because he is an obstacle to their own political plans.
ReplyDeleteHowever, there are others who are idealists , especially youngsters who are criticising why is Anwar in a hurry to return to Parliament, interpreting him as power hungry.
They do not understand the biological realities of having a 93-year old leader. At that age, a person may look very healthy, but they can suddenly fall ill, and they may not recover or face great difficulties to recover.
Anwar is the agreed successor, and for the sake of the nation, he must be in a position to be sworn in as the next PM, if that becomes necessary.
If Anwar is not an MP at the time, others will attempt to force themselves to the front, and Malaysian politics could get very ugly and messy at that point.
On this I agree with Monsterball tho' I have been one very critical of AI
DeleteI expect when Anwar is gutted down, cheebye motherfucker kaytee come along to stab Anwar and spit on him. Cheebye Kaytee will then say........Padan Muka for what you have done on Cheebye Kaytee beloved leader, Najib
ReplyDeletefirstly, I did NOT fCk your mum. Secondly, how could you condemn the leader of the party of your real but long lost father?
DeleteFriendly fire can still cause casualties and collateral damages.
ReplyDeletePakatan Harapan delivers as promised on Rule of Law.

that was a court decision - I hope you were NOT implying the PH government controls court decisions?
DeleteThe Court was given a free hand to rule based on the Law.
DeleteThere had been a lot of stories , proven in a number of cases during the previous regime of political interference especially on matters related to Race and Religion.
Wakakakakaakaka
ReplyDeleteFriendly Fire for AI is directed at PKR or PH supporters or BN or PAS or NGOs or Civil Groups or to those plain common voters not aligned to any groups?
There are differing views to this PD by-election in which the President of the PKR party is taking another step towards becoming the next PM after TDM leaves in 2 years or earlier should he not wake up one morning whether it is tomorrow or day after or month after or year after following the pact made by component parties of PH before the GE14.
Assuming all the component parties of PH still adhere to this pact made and which majority of voters of PH voted for knowingly in GE14, it is only sensible for the good of the country that the PH Govt. have a smooth transition plan in place to be executed when the time comes when TDM expires. It involves issues of stability not only of Govt. but also of politics, economic, financial, investments etc. Only irresponsible leaders do not have succession plans in place or made them only at their deathbed if they have the time left to do it.
So, where are the criticisms coming from and lets look at each objectively?
1. PKR Party? There shouldn't be criticism from PKR party supporters since it is their own President who is contesting this by-election in PD in him becoming the next PM and not a party election of choosing a party President. There is just no plausible reasons of any loyal party member of PKR to criticize unless they are Trojan Horses or Brutuses. They should join another party if they can't elect even their own party President to be the PM.
2. DAP and Amanah? So far, their leaders and supporters are very sober and keeping to the promises made. They will support AI as part of the succession plan for him to be the next PM.
3. PPBM. The current PM is PPBM President and of course most of their supporters would like to see him rule forever again for another 100 years. However, the real test is whether TDM himself honors the promises and the pact made and urge his supporters to vote for AI as part of the succession plan.
4. BN and PAS. Critics from both these 2 parties are only natural and any unsolicited support given can only be described as foolish attempts to destabilise and disrupt PH plans of succession and delude PH supporters.
5. NGOs and Civil Groups. A smooth succession plan will never be the main focus in this but instead their own opinions and agenda of whichever party they want to support.
Now, as regards PATRIOTS criticisms of Danyal being made the sacrificial lamb instead of Wan Azizah, he needs a reminder from Danyal that "Soldiers will remain soldiers". They remain loyal to serve their country's interest first and not thinking of their own interests. It's time for PATRIOTs to have their own political party to fight for their causes instead of their Veterans being used as politicians by other political parties.
