Malaysiakini - Siti Nurhaliza latest to roast Tabung Haji (extracts)

Subsequently, Siti in a posting on photo sharing site Instagram said she will always love and be with Mahathir for the former prime minister's past contributions to the country.

"He should be appreciated and he is a good example," she said in her posting which received over 17,000 "likes".

I have no doubt more 'likes' will be forthcoming, mostly from Pakatan wakakaka, despite who she is openly, pointedly and enthusiastically supporting.

But Pakatan followers, most if not all, are not unlike US President Franklin D Roosevelt who described the Nicaraguan dictator Anastasio Somoza as “He may be a bastard, but he’s our bastard”.

No, I'm wrong, they are by far worse, wakakaka. While Roosevelt was playing expedient politics, our current admirers of Dr M has gone that extra metre, so to speak.

Thus, they not only concurred with sweetie Siti in supporting their once-foe but would go as far as to describe Dr M, I suspect wakakaka, as the greatest Malaysian to ever walk on our tanah air, a national hero, a post I published just last month in which I penned:

PAS used to call Dr Mahathir the 'devil' but during his tiff with AAB, he (the 'devil', wakakaka) was elevated back to 'heaven', perhaps by a PAS advanced 'ticket to heaven' to become an archangel, and was even hailed as a national hero and probably a national treasure as well, wakakaka.

Currently, there are talks, suggestions, wishful hopes, that the "national hero" teams up with Pakatan, or that Pakatan coopts him into a partnership to bring down Najib.

People have said that politics make strange bedfellows, as well as politics is the art of the impossible, but I wonder what place in politics would silly qualities like scruples, principles and consistency of integrity still have? How I wish Bhai is still around!

Yes, Dr M was hated then adored then hated but now adulated, wakakaka. He has even been touted as the federal Opposition Leader, wakakaka again.

Perhaps a word from the Bard now would be appropriate:

As I oft said, in politics Malaysians in general have might have taken up with Franklin Roosevelt's notorious expedient political statement but I suspect, more with former US President George Bush's infamous bullying threat of "Either you're with us or against us!"

They can only be for (thus happy with) or against (thus railing against) a political viewpoint. There's no in-between, neutral position or qualified discrete assessment of political policies or politicians they would tolerate let alone allow. That's why I have been against Brother Harris' ABU which indiscriminately chopped off good UMNO blokes like Saifuddin Abdullah and allowed a bloke like Nasrudin Hassan At-Tantawi to take his place as MP for Temerloh.

This Nasrudin bloke has a reckless and irresponsible way with his mouth. In 2010 he as PAS Youth Chief made stupid statements, that babies abandoned through illicit births had been the result of Valentine's Day and New Year's Day celebrations. Incidentally, both events are non-Muslim celebrations on which he should have kept his wild intrusive irresponsible opinions to himself. 

Malaysiakini reported in 2010 in its Valentine's Day blamed for baby dumping that Nasrudin Hassan had blamed the festivity celebrations on those two days as encouraging free sex that led to ... yadda yadda yadda ... culminating in baby dumping.

Nasrudin unbelievably claimed: "It's an indication that the 'mating season' occurred during the New Year's Day celebrations."

Bullsh*t, my dear Yang Amat Alim, New Year's Days and Valentine’s Days have been celebrated all over the world for centuries, yet we haven't seen Malaysia's kind of baby dumping in those foreign countries.

Tell you a bloody secret Ustaz ..... because their societies are far more humane, compassionate, caring, supportive and most important of all, less misogynistic, and fortunately without people like you and some of your mates in PAS.

Alas, the sad conclusion becomes obvious that many (admittedly not all like sweet naive kaytee, wakakaka) Pakatan followers can only see (discern, distinguish, differentiate) things in black or white - f* dull people or f* dullards, wakakaka.

We now come to the core of out post, related to our second sweetie, Michelle Yeoh. In 2013 HM the Agong honoured Malaysia's most renowned actor, sweetie Michelle with a Tan Sri-ship.

Many pro Pakatan supporters somehow forgot their very own demand for 'freedom' of this and that, and went into berserk mode, whacking Michelle Yeoh for ... guess what? ... for exercising her 'freedom of association' and 'freedom of expression'. Just beat that f* double standard hypocrisy!

Why? Because Michelle had shown her friendship and thus support for AAB and also that her dad is a MCA leader, from a party (wakakaka) which supports Dr M, exactly like Siti Nurhaliza!

Don't you think that's food for thoughts? That is, if you guys can think, wakakaka.

But nonetheless, I ask again: Hellooooo there, remember 'freedom of association' and 'freedom of expression', 'freedom' of ... whatever?

The sheer hypocrisy and double-standards of Pakatan supporters (I'm ashamed to say I am one though I qualify myself by asserting I support only DAP) in their vile vitriolic vicious and vehement buses of her for her political affiliation and expression of support, her fundamental right to do so, spread even into the Hong Kong and China's entertainment net, and have been a disgraceful, disappointing and (quite frankly) disturbing demonstration of Malaysian political immaturity - and a shameful indictment of even our fundamental civility and sense of decency.

Michelle Yeoh is Malaysia's most globally recognized entertainment talent, bar none, and has not only been honoured twice with honours (datukship) by her home state of Perak but by France as well, in fact twice within 5 years, with the Chevalier de la Légion d'honneur and the Officier de la Légion d'honneur, and of course then recently in 2013, by HM the Agong with a Tan Sri-ship.

Yet from those unacceptable uncivilised and uncouth abuses by so-called Malaysians, the very people who brazenly clamour for 'freedom' of this and that, you might wonder whether she is notorious in her own nation, perhaps as a serial killer, child abuser or fratricidal or matricidal psychopath, or that she had pilfered hundreds of billions away.

So today we have Siti Nurhaliza doing what Michelle did, expressing her political affiliations, and we see startling, nay, contrasting reactions form Pakatan supporters.

I have no doubt those mealy-mouthed morons will try to explain their differential treatment of the two sweeties' political affiliation away with some bull.

Be decent, honorable and repentant - go apologize to Michelle, ... oh ... and by the way, tell her I send you, wakakaka.

Permatang Pauh - Day after

Congratulations to Dr Wan Azizah for winning the Permatang Pauh by-election.

The turnout was 73.71% certainly higher than my guestimate of 65% but a lot lower than the 2013's 88.3%. Her majority this time is lower than the previous majority for her husband in 2013. However, she picked up more Malay votes from the younger generation, but lost some Chinese support.

In Rompin, it's more or less the same story except the winning candidate has been an UMNO man while the loser was a PAS candidate. Turnout dropped from the 2013's 85.0% to 74%. Winning majority dropped from 15,114 in 2013 to 8895. Again some Chinese votes swung back to BN-UMNO

Basically we have almost identical outcomes, with the respective favourites winning in their own stronghold.

Depending on which side you're on, you can interpret it to your own advantage, but I suspect MCA and Gerakan will be wanking away in front of Ah Jib Gor's office, crowing and cooing the Chinese have returned to the BN's fold. 

But have they? Was it hudud that turned them off? Or just invincible disdain for BN (my guess)? In Rompin we could say DAP wasn't there to help, but in Permatang Pauh ...?

So I eagerly await my matey Ong Kian Ming's erudite analysis of the by-elections.

But I reckon Ah Gib Jor will be extremely worried about Dr Wan picking up an extra 5% young Malay votes. Those are the new Heartland's votes. Maybe Ah Jib Gor will blame it on Dr Mahathir's undermining of his government, which is certainly a fair accusation, wakakaka.

More interestingly I like to hear Dr Mahathir's interpretation of the PP case against his previous interpretation of Rompin, wakakaka. I am sure His Imperial Majesty will come up with some words to Ah Jib Gor's discomfort, disadvantage and disgust, wakakaka again.

Two points on BN in PP campaigning - firstly, it has shot itself in the foot by sending in a racist Neanderthal to threaten PP residents with deprived developments if those hapless people failed to vote UMNO in. The bumbling idiot turned everyone off. I sometimes wonder at the mentality of UMNO for fostering such a goon to be among their leadership echelon.

Secondly, it failed to explain the GST properly and clearly to the people. There's lots of bullshit hurled against the GST. It didn't help when Dr M also criticized the consumption tax scheme, though I suspect his aim was more to undermine Najib than the GST itself, wakakaka.

Two points on PKR  in PP campaigning - firstly, the Pakatan coalition remains a problematic issue. But fortunately for Dr Wan, the Anwar appeal or cultism has enough inertia to see Dr Wan Azizah through to a winning position albeit with some small deficiencies. But how will Pakatan perform as a coalition in GE-14?

But I'm sure DAP is happy with Dr Wan's victory as the party sees her as a credible bulwark against a PAS leadership in Pakatan, especially as Opposition Leader in Federal Parliament.

Some didn't like what I have published, accusing me of attacking PKR. But face it (and don't bury your heads in the sand), PKR has a lot to do, a lot of catching up to do, to heal the wounds the party has inflicted on the Indians. It's probably due only to the discredited incompetent MIC that the Indian sector wasn't marshalled against PKR in PP in full significant force. Don't take the Indians for granted.

Majlis Amanah Raya (Mara) councillor commented [in his personal capacity] on convicted child pornography collector Nur Fitri Azmeer Nordin: "I feel he has to be given a second chance for his future. Everyone makes mistakes."

In an earlier incident in 2012, a maggot by the name of Noor Afizal Azizan was given a '2nd chance' because he only had consensual sex with a 13-year old - yes, 'consensual sex' with a 13-year old in the words of the judge.

It plainly showed the pathetic pariah-ish poverty of our legal system where the term 'consensual sex' was allowed to be employed in a case of statutory rape, in which a female minor, only 13 years of age, was well below the age required to legally consent to the act.

In fact, in statutory rape cases, unlike those of forcible rape cases involving adults, there is no requirement to prove force or threat had preceded or was involved in the rape. The laws automatically presume coercion, because a minor or an adult who doesn't have normal/mature mental capacity is legally incapable of giving consent to the act.

Additionally, we were told that Noor (perhaps like our Imperial College maths genius Nur) was assessed as having a 'bright future'. So 2nd chance for him eh?

The Malaysian Insider (TMI) reported in its news article Rapists freed by courts match medical definition of paedophiles that the World Health Organization's International Classification of Diseases (ICD) categorizes paedophilia as ‘a sexual preference for children boys or girls or both usually of pre-pubertal or early pubertal age’, ...

... while the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) used by mental health professionals globally states 'paedophilia is the sexual attraction to pubescent or pre-pubescents aged 13 or younger and the subject must be 16 or older with the child at least five years younger'.

TMI states the slimy maggot Noor fitted the medical profiles of paedophiles and that international research of paedophilia as a sexual disorder suggests that paedophiles start offending at a young age.

Let's return briefly to Nur Fitri Azmeer Nordin the maths genius, where The Star Online reported the following:

UM law lecturer Azmi Sharom questioned why Mara was “bending over backwards” to help Nur Fitri.

“Paedophilia is a very serious crime and a person should therefore serve his punishment. As for his future, it is really his responsibility. I do not understand why Mara is bending over backwards to help someone, especially someone who has committed a crime this heinous,” he said, questioning the value systems of Malaysian education institutions.

Activist Datuk Noor Farida Ariffin was appalled by Mara’s move.

“In spite of the conviction, Mara has described Nur Fitri as an ‘exemplary student’.

“Clearly, the people running Mara have a warped sense of values,” she said, adding that education was not just about excellent academic results, but also building character and instilling good moral values in students.

She pointed out that Nur Fitri was not just found with over 30,000 hardcore porn involving children, but also had a life-sized mannequin of a boy.

“He is obviously a pervert and for Mara to make excuses for his actions is totally repugnant,” she said, adding that it was obvious Nur Fitri had a serious problem and needed treatment, not a place to continue his studies.

So Noor Afizal and Nur Fitri share the same taste for baby chooks?

Back to that bowling wonder who has a 'bright future' - needless to say, many of us were totally gob-smacked by the judge's explanation in Noor Afizal's case in which he (the judge) had dared, in a case of statutory rape, to offer the excuse that Noor Afizal did not use force and that it was consensual sex.

Were these new laws no one other than the judge was aware of?

I wonder whether Noor is still representing the states or even the nation with his bowling ball with which he managed to brilliantly strike down all the judges?

Around the same time as Noor's 'consensual sex' with a 13-year old lil' girl, another maggot by the name of Chuah Guan Jui was also bonking an underage lil' girl.

Initially, because Noor's '2nd chance' became a new astonishing stare decisis (legal precedent), Chuah was also given a '2nd chance' but subsequently had this withdrawn.

Thank goodness for commonsense and common law, Chuah was subsequently jailed for 5.5 years after public outcry over the moronic court ruling and consequently an appeal by the prosecutor. The f* maggot deserved it.

But what about the bloke with the 'bright future'? Surely what's good for the goose (Chuah Guan Jiu) should be good for the gander (Noor Afizal). Why was Chuah jailed but not Noor?

F* stare decisis in both cases, to wit, (i) Noor being probably the first person in Malaysia to avoid statutory rape punishment for bonking a 13-year old lil's girl, and (ii) Chuah's case was not governed by the legal precedent provided in Noor's '2nd chance'.

Malaysia Boleh!

Okay, let us review another sad case where the offender wasn't given any '2nd chance' nor was he deemed to have a 'bright future'.

In my post Malaysian Laws like Spider Webs? I pointed out that Zulhaidi Hamzah, an unemployed Malay man in Johor was jailed for FIVE YEARS for stealing less than a dozen cans of beer. He was charged under Section 380 of the Penal Code for theft, which carries a maximum 10 years’ jail or fine upon conviction.

For stealing 11 cans of beer, he was sentenced to 50% of the max jail term, that was, 5 years.

Those two arseholes, Noor Afizal and Chuah Guan Jiu were charged under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code where they could face up to 20 years' jail and whipping.

For raping little girls, did they get any fraction of the max sentence or whipping?

Yes for maggot Chuah who was jailed for 5.5 years, but only a mere 6 months more than Zulhaidi Hamzah for stealing less than a dozen cans of beer.

Noor Afizal? Well, he has a 'bright future' and we don't want to ruin that, even for a rapist, do we?

After all, "boys will be boys", 'immortal words' as stated by Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav last year (2014) when he opposed capital punishment for rape, notwithstanding a horrendous rape case where the rapists apart from sexually having their evil ways with the victim also shafted an iron rod into her private part which ripped right into her innards and tore them up - of course she perished but after a few days of suffering both the indignity and physical pain.

Mulayam Singh Yadav was reported as saying: “ladke, ladke hain… galti ho jati hai (boys will be boys … they commit mistakes).”

I suppose it was a coincidence the accused rapists were also from the same Yadav clan. The Times of India reported on 01 June 2014: The three suspects identified as Pappu Yadav, Awdesh Yadav, Urvesh Yadav detained so far in the attack are cousins in their 20s from an extended family, and they face murder and rape charges.

Incidentally, charges against the accused in the alleged Baduan rape-murder case were dismissed due to "lack of evidence". The two girls (from a lower caste than the accused) were deemed to have committed suicide.

Anyway, the moral of the story we obtain from the Noor Afizal case must be that under Malaysian law, it's (criminally) safer to rape little girls than to steal a few cans of beer.

Indians, the 'Lost' in Permatang Pauh?

While Chinese in Permatang Pauh make up 23% of voters in that constituency (approximately 16 to 17,000), Indians total another 6% (4300).

'Yesterday' Dr Wan would have been assured of 90 to 95% Chinese support, but alas, 'today' thanks to PAS' hudud and Tian Chua's public declaration that PKR does not oppose hudud as a concept and that the party respects the rights of those who want the Islamic penal code implemented, I am not too sure.

Needless to say, ye olde faithful DAP would have been slaving away in PP to help Dr Wan secure the Chinese votes, but I suspect many Chinese may end up playing mahjung instead of voting because of the hudud issue.

But what about the 6% Indian votes?

In a tight race, every vote matters especially a hefty 6% which would be approximately 4300 votes. If the turnout, expected to be lower than 2013 GE, is around, say 65%, the Indian votes will be about 2800, a very significant number in a by-election which results probably may go down to the wire.

DAP in its campaigning to help Dr Wan has already voiced its dissatisfaction with PKR's handling of or campaigning among the Indian community in PP.

For DAP to publicly voice its dissatisfaction with PKR's campaigning among the Indians tell us a lot about PKR's pathetic performance in PP with regards to the Indian residents there. Incidentally if MIC fails to capitalize on this PKR shortcoming for its UMNO aneh, its leaders should be shot or preferably 'quartered' like a roti canai.

Mateys, I've been blogging for 10 years, and I have to say without any prejudice or bias wakakaka, that I've noticed PKR has never been favourable to its Indian members, rather, has been dismissive, disdainful and disrespectful of them though the Indian members have been among the most loyal and hardworking party people.

Perhaps the correct phrase would be 'taken for granted'? Indeed!

Now, whatever one might have to say about Nallakaruppan, he was once Anwar's man, so-called 'best friend', confidante, constant tennis partner, intimate 'consultant', aide and a man who was very nearly sent to the gallows during the Sodomy I case because of his closeness with his imperial majesty, but in the end he was still played out by his Taikoh in favour of the blue eyed boy.

Some years ago in a PKR party election, his imperial majesty instructed Nalla to stand aside for the blue-eyed boy so that the apple of AI's eyes could secure the last remaining party VP position. Nalla could have won that VP position easily as he had the most number of party nominations for the VP contest - hmmm, maybe that's why his imperial majesty ordered him to stand aside.

As if that marginalization was not hurtful enough, his imperial majesty then parachuted Khalid Ibrahim into the Ijok by-election, whence once again Nalla was played out after returning from Australia (on order), expecting to play a major role in PKR frontline politics.

Then there was his imperial majesty's chief tok ampu who is now probably the man who hates the imperial majesty most.

And wasn't someone too disappointed in the recent Selangor exco appointment?

Poor aneh's & tambee's, marginalised as if they had accidentally wandered incorrectly into an UMNO party headquarters - which BTW would be nearer the truth than is comfy. Mind, many 'Indians' feel quite at home in UMNO, wakakaka.

So how will 2800 plus/minus Indian voters in Permatang Pauh cast their ballots? I wonder whether Gobala and Nalla are down there doing their utmost? wakakaka.

Hooded witnesses?

The Malay Mail Online - Court mulls allowing witnesses to testify anonymously against terrorism suspects

KUALA LUMPUR, May 5 — The High Court here will decide if five prosecution witnesses testifying against two local terrorism suspects can keep their identities secret and provide evidence anonymously.

Lead prosecutor Datuk Mohamad Hanafiah Zakaria applied today for the court to determine if a list of five witnesses could fall under the “protected witnesses” category.

He cited Section 14 of the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (Sosma) — the law under which the two suspects Yazid Sufaat and Muhammad Hilmi Hasim are detained under.

Hey kawan, the two suspects are just that, two SUSPECTS!

Last I recall, the laws of the land, our Malaysia, say they are innocent until proven guilty.

In the old days, the way to get around detaining communist terrorists without proving their guilt was invented by the Brits and sweetly adopted by us, namely the ISA!

Subsequently those hypocrite Yanks from the "land of due process & fair trial", as we (in particular sweetie Rafidah Abdul Aziz) were so dismissively informed by its former Secretary of State (equivalent of Foreign Minister) Madeleine Albright, adopted the same laws to detain Islamist militants without "due process nor trial", some of whom were f**king innocent.

Australia suffered two such innocents at the hands of those Yanks, one being a Caucasian Australian-born and another, a Pakistani-born Australian. Both were subsequently released after years in detention.

I believe the Paki-born bloke was compensated, but oh, the horrors he suffered while in Yankee detention or rather in "extraordinary rendition" which saw him first in Paki detention "etc" and subsequently in Egyptian detention "etc" (focus on those horrendous "etc"), without enjoying any of Madame Albright's boasted "due process & fair trial". Could any financial compensation be ever enough for his ordeals?

Okay, let us revisit two words from the Malay Mail Online report, to wit:

(i) 'suspects' as in 'terrorism suspects' (I wonder why 'terrorism suspects' and not 'terrorist suspects'?) and

(ii) 'anonymously' as in 'five prosecution witnesses testifying against two local terrorism suspects can keep their identities secret and provide evidence anonymously'.

What immediately sprung to my mind were images of terrifying stories about the Japanese occupation which my mum and uncles told me, when their village were terrorized (excuse the pun) by such 'anonymous' collaborators of the Japanese occupiers.

Each of those quislings would have their identities kept secret by wearing a bag-like hood over their heads except for their eyes but which were shielded by a gauze mask, as they stood beside their Japanese master.

To root out Kuomintang or even British spies and supporters, the Jap Overlords would have the unfortunate villagers marched slowly past the hooded quisling. While pondering over this, my dilemma, I recall 5 years ago around mid March, in fact 17 March 2010 to be exact, Malaysiakini reported in its article Anwar spars with KJ over 1Israel, tycoon's daughter that:

Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim today went on the attack in Parliament by claiming that Apco Worldwide, a consultancy agency hired by the Malaysian government, was the brain behind the ‘One Israel’ slogan. [...]

Rembau MP Khairy Jamaluddin immediately jumped to his feet to demand that Anwar produce evidence that Apco was behind the 'One Israel' campaign.

Counter attacking, the Umno Youth chief also quizzed Anwar's relationship with Paul Wolfowitz who is known as “the godfather to the neo-conservative movement in the US”.

“You are a complicit as well,” Khairy told Anwar. [...]

Prior to that, Anwar chastised BN for giving “a whole mountain” to the late Lim Goh Tong of the Genting Highlands fame, but complained about Pakatan’s allocations for Chinese new villages in Perak. [...]

Khairy then added: “When you were deputy prime minister, you gave the mountain to the same tauke judi (gambling tycoon)... and not only that - you were also seen dancing with the daughter of the tauke judi while you were the deputy prime minister.”

Well, there were none from PKR nor (god forbid) PAS nor DAP, not that I had read of.

Perhaps Pakatan was struck dumb by KJ's cute counter-attack against the Greatest Reformer on Earth who was also a former ABIM leader?

Maybe salsa-ing or any form of Western dancing like mambo was deemed an unmitigated evil for politically-devout Muslims?

Well, I'm pleased to say: yes, there was one (presumably decent sort of bloke) who didn't like the sort of nasty ad hominem attack that KJ launched quite accurately at Anwar Ibrahim. This bloke seems to like to defend 'underdogs', mind, not every so-called underdog but those he believes are deserving of defending.

An extract: Dr Afif Bahardin, who is Penang health and agricultural exco, said GST was implemented on food stuff like instant noodles and biscuits but not on expensive seafood, which only the rich could afford.

On the surface of Dr Afif Bahardin's statement, it would seem the GST is discriminatory ... in favour of luxury goods. But then he is a member of that party called the Malaysian Circus, wakakaka, so let's look beyond just the surface.

Let me attempt to apply the Australian GST rules as a parallel model, an example for comparison so to speak, as I am not conversant with the Malaysian one in its details.

Australian GST would be applied to processed (or manufactured) food but not on uncooked or raw food, so if the Malaysian system is similar then it's obvious uncooked or raw seafood, whether it's lobsters as PKR had chosen to make its anti GST campaign more dramatic or just ikan belanak from the wet market, would NOT be GST-ed.

Unfortunately, noodles and biscuits are manufactured food and thus subject to GST.

So, we need to be fair in our discernment, that whether a food is GST-ed or not, will depend on its state (processed or raw). If you choose not to be fair and used extreme examples, in other words to play rotten politics (like the other side as you claimed), then carry on (and be just exactly like the other side).

In Australia just prior to the GST being implemented on 01 July 2000, there was a laughable circus in the Australian parliament over the GST-ing of roasted chicken versus the un-GST-ed raw chicken - for more, read this ABC interview transcript where too-clever-by-half Meg Lees and her 3rd Force Democrats politic-ed themselves into oblivion, wakakaka.

Also read this Wikipedia extract: During the 1998 election campaign, the leader of the Australian Democrats, Meg Lees, stated that her party was opposed to a GST unless food, books and tourism packages sold offshore were exempt, and other compensating tax measures were implemented.

The government initially stated that exemptions to the GST were not possible, and looked most likely to pass the GST legislation with the support of independent Senator BRian Harradine.

However a compromise was eventually reached with Lees, involving most basic food items being exempt from the GST, the GST on library purchases of books being refunded, a temporary 8% refund on school textbooks, increases to welfare payments, and greater powers to the ACCC to oversee the implementation of the new tax regime.

A proposal to exempt tampons from the GST was dismissed by Howard. The legislation was passed on 28 June 1999 as A New Tax System (Goods and Services Tax) Act 1999. It gained assent on 8 July 1999 and came into operation on 1 July 2000.

Many in Malaysia might have misunderstood GST as an additional tax on top of the various taxes on goods employed previously. In the Australian example which I presumed Malaysia's would more or less be similar to, the GST is meant to REPLACE (not add on to) those already-existing multi-layered taxes to make simpler the overall tax on goods and services.

In Australia, a 10% GST is imposed on goods like furniture, motorcars, clothing, processed food etc , and 'services' like car repairs, doctor services, char-kuat (massage, wakakaka), haircuts, plumbing or electrical works, etc.

By the way, it does not replace income tax which is a separate tax altogether, which taxes one's income or revenue.

Additionally, it is NOT the same as the 'service charge' that hotels and some restaurants levy on their customers. While GST is a government tax, the hotel & restaurant 'service charge' is not, but actually an institutionalized 'tip' for the hotel & restaurant staff, agreed to by hotel & restaurant management and the staff unions which has nothing to do with the government. It goes to the staff as 'tips'.

Likewise, zakat is a Muslim obligation to his or her religion, and has nothing to do with GST which is a government (not religious) tax, and therefore should not be a consideration for reducing GST for Muslims who pay zakat.

In fact, the Christian equivalent of zakat in many cases are far more than a Muslim's zakat. An extreme example is that of some Scandinavian churches which levy a contribution of 50% of its devotees' secular income, wakakaka, yes, half of what its parishioners earned in their lay-lives.

With GST, most things should become cheaper while some will be dearer.

How can it be cheaper, you may ask? Because GST replaces the existing taxes on the goods. Goods that had government taxes levied on it prior to GST should have been removed, thus making the goods either cheaper or at worst, the same price.

For example, if a product was previously taxed at or to a total of 10% then that product would become cheaper because it's now taxed by GST at only 6%. Some products which were previously not taxed at all would of course become dearer, by 6%.

I wonder how much was 'white goods' (eg. fridge, washing machine, airconditioner, microwave oven, western style stoves and ovens, etc) taxed at previously (ie. prior to GST)?

So, the 'lobsters' that Azmin Ali brought from the wet market should be GST free because those udang galah were raw or unprocessed goods, but if Azmin Ali were to sell them after satay-rizing them, wakakaka, then his barbecued (cooked) prawns should be GST-ed at 6%, whence he then has an obligation as a trader to collect and submit the 6% tax from their sales and hand the taxes over to the government, wakakaka again.

One of the hypocritical or bizarre moronic outcome of our deformasi politics is some Chinese taking an anti-GST stand, when the GST actually mitigates (solves) one of their age-long complaints, namely, that they (the Chinese) alone have been bearing most of the taxes in Malaysia.
