Zizie Izette Abdul Samad, the widow of the late veteran Umno politician, Bung Moktar Radin, has sought to dismiss the RM2.8 million corruption charges involving herself and her late husband.
Zizie had submitted her representation to the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) on Dec 24 last year for the charges to be dismissed, the New Straits Times reported a source as saying.
The source also added that Zizie’s lawyer, K Kumaraendran, had reportedly submitted a letter to the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court on Jan 5, requesting that yesterday’s trial dates be vacated, pending the AGC’s update.
Yesterday, Zizie was initially scheduled to enter her defence and testify for three charges of conspiracy before Sessions Court judge Rosli Ahmad, but the proceedings have since been adjourned.
Kumaraendran later confirmed that the Sessions Court had fixed Jan 16 to hear the status of the representation from the AGC.

The status of Bung’s three charges is also expected to be decided on the same day.

The couple has been embroiled in a corruption case related to Felcra’s RM150 million investment in Public Mutual unit trusts, and entered their defence in September last year.
On Nov 13, the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court granted the couple’s request to postpone their defence in the RM2.8 million case, originally set for Nov 27 and Dec 3, to January 2026, due to the Sabah state election on Nov 29.
However, Bung passed away on Dec 5, at the age of 66, only several days after the Sabah polls.
Bung was in critical condition and receiving treatment for complications involving his lungs, heart, and kidneys.

The Kinabatangan MP was charged on May 3, 2019, with two counts of accepting bribes amounting to RM2.2 million and RM262,500, as an inducement to secure approval for Felcra’s RM150 million investment in Public Mutual unit trusts.
He was accused of receiving bribes from Public Mutual investment agent Madhi Abdul Hamid through Zizie at Public Bank Berhad, Taman Melawati branch in Kuala Lumpur on June 12 and 19, 2015.
Bung also faces a separate charge of corruptly obtaining RM337,500 in cash from another Public Mutual investment agent, Norhaili Ahmad Mokhtar, through the Public Ittikal Sequel Fund account registered under Zizie’s name, for the same purpose.
The charges were framed under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009, which provides for a prison term of up to 20 years, and a fine of not less than five times the value of the bribe or RM10,000, whichever is higher.
Zizie faces three charges of abetting her late husband in relation to the same offences, allegedly committed at the same place, date, and time, under Section 28(1)(c) of the MACC Act 2009, which carries a maximum jail term of 20 years and a fine of not less than five times the value of the bribe or RM10,000, whichever is higher.
