PKR Youth chief Adam Adli Abdul Halim has denied there were internal issues between his party’s youth wing and that of Umno.

However, he explained that differences of opinion were normal in politics.

“There are no problems… that (differences of opinion) is normal,” he told reporters after attending a Youth and Sports Ministry programme in Kuantan, Pahang today.

He was responding to a question about PKR and Umno’s youth wings’ exchange of statements following the recently concluded Sungai Bakap by-election.

In the latest incident, Adam had told Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh not to be influenced by opposition narratives.

Dewan Rakyat speaker Johari Abdul

This is over Dewan Rakyat speaker Johari Abdul's controversial decision not to vacate the seats of six Bersatu MPs - a move Akmal was critical of.

Johari is a PKR veteran.

‘Up to FAM’

On the salary issues faced by football players in the country, the deputy youth and sports minister emphasised that the matter was under the purview of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM).

“We at the ministry have no comment regarding this because we leave it entirely to FAM.

"I think in the future if there is a decision we will announce it, if there is a discussion we will announce it.

"For now we have appointed FAM to handle this matter as best as possible," Adam added.

Media reports previously highlighted players’ salary arrears involving almost all teams competing in the Malaysia Super League, including Kuala Lumpur, Sri Pahang, Negeri Sembilan, Sabah, and Kedah.

Political awareness

Adam also addressed the political awareness of the younger generation, stating that it was continuously growing.

“Don’t think that the awareness doesn’t exist just because it sides with only one party,” he warned.

During the meet the youth programme, Adam asked participants at the event what they would do if they were to become the prime minister.

One student from Institut Kemahiran Belia Negara, Muhammad Nur Alif Nor Azli, enthusiastically replied that he would lower the price of oil receiving loud cheers from the approximately 1,300 attendees.
