The continuing internal-backstabbing & disintegration of Bersatu

FMT:

PETALING JAYA: Perlis Bersatu chief Abu Bakar Hamzah should not over-react by declaring “war” on Perlis menteri besar Shukri Ramli for not being appointed to the state executive council, Abu Bakar’s deputy Izizam Ibrahim said today.

Izizam, who took his oath of office as an executive councillor today, said Abu Bakar should have discussed the matter with the Perlis Bersatu leadership first before making such remarks.

“He is quick to overreact. He should have met and discussed the matter with us (Bersatu state assemblymen),” Izizam told FMT. “In this situation, he appears to be wanting to fight everyone.”

Izizam denied accusations that he “stabbed Abu Bakar in the back” regarding the state executive council appointments, adding that he had no right to influence the menteri besar’s decisions.

“Who am I? The menteri besar is more experienced than me,” he said. “He’s been an assemblyman for three terms while I am just a new assemblyman. How can a young man advise someone older than him?” he said.

Izizam advised Abu Bakar, who is assemblyman for Kuala Perlis, to be patient and focus on helping the public.

He said that in such situations, sacrifices often need to be made as some individuals will attain certain positions at the expense of others.

Earlier today, Abu Bakar claimed that Shukri disregarded Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin’s proposal for him to be appointed as an executive councillor.

He also accused Izizam and another Perlis Bersatu leader of being the “masterminds” of a scheme to reject his nomination for the post, according to Berita Harian.

Earlier today, three Bersatu assemblymen, including Izizam, and four PAS assemblymen took their oath of office as members of the executive council.

Abu Bakar had also previously sparked controversy by alleging “internal turmoil” within Perlis PAS, after which PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang issued a warning against any acts of sabotage that could lead to the downfall of state governments led by Perikatan Nasional.
