Netizens query Hamzah on his panadol comment in Pelangai

PERIKATAN Nasional (PN) Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin stirred controversy during his recent visit to Pelangai, claiming he required Panadol to ease a headache while en route to his destination.

However, netizens are now asking the bigger questions about his role as a senior minister in the PN government from 2020 onwards.

Reports stated that the PN coalition’s recent campaign featuring Hamzah in Pelangai saw mostly empty seats, eventhough a large tent was set up to accommodate around 300 people.

The voters in Pelangai are voting today to choose a DUN member in place of Datuk Seri Johari Harun who died in a plane crash in Bandar Elmina on Aug 17.

The candidates are from Barisan Nasional (BN) Datuk Amizar Abu Adam, Perikatan Nasional (PN) Kasim Samat and independent candidate Haslihelmy DM Zulhasni.

Nevertheless, based on his experience visiting the area, some on the X platform said the former home affairs minister is a privileged person who does not know much about the trials and tribulations of a segment of the population.

(Haha bro, you’ve never felt the struggles of the people. The first time you visit, you’re already asking for Panadol. I bet if you win tomorrow, you won’t even go to Pelangai at all. )

(A very upper class mindset, thinking they need Panadol just to visit Pelangai. They probably never have experienced hardship in life. They haven’t even set foot in Sabah yet. I’m not sure if I want to continue.. lazy.)

There are also discussions on how when he was in government, he did not even offer to help the place.

(After being in the government for decades, Hamzah never needed Panadol because it was easy to find resources, easy to exploit government loopholes. Now, as an opposition member, suddenly his health isn’t as robust.)

Most users is of the opinion that he should have commented on the difficulties of reaching Pelangai in a different tone and manner. Regardless, there are still many parts of Malaysia that need special attention when it comes to the state of the infrastructure. – Oct 7, 2023
