Light aircraft crashes in Shah Alam, several feared dead
A light aircraft crashed on a road in the City of Elmina near Shah Alam this afternoon.
According to initial information from government agency sources, the incident that occurred around 2.45pm involved several victims.
However, their status is yet to be confirmed.
A Fire and Rescue Department officer told Malaysiakini that they received a call at 2.53pm and dispatched rescuers from the Kota Anggerik and Sungai Buloh fire stations.
"So far, initial information indicated that there are six victims.
"All of them are unconscious," said the officer.
Based on several social media postings, a motorcyclist was among those involved in the incident.
The rider was reportedly killed on the spot as he was at the point of impact when the aircraft crashed.

Just looking at photos, and noting the impact point of the crash (blackened by burnt marks) I SPECULATE the pilot could have attempted to land the aircraft on the road (resembling or substituting as a runway) perhaps following an (single) engine failure.
An ever present danger to such an emergency attempt, emergency landing on a road, would be the road traffic, in this case, a motorcycle.
From a dashcam video of the incident shared on-line, it is obvious the pilot was not attempting to land on the road.
ReplyDeleteIt was high speed nosedive into the ground. There is almost nothing left of the aircraft.
you're correct. My incorrect speculation was based on inadequate data (a few photos of the burnt patch on the road) and the misleading description of 'light aircraft' (thought it was only a single-engine piston Cessna or Piper)
